THIS IS JUST A DRUM UNIT. THE TONER CARTRIDGES ARE SEPARATE, REPLACEABLE, MAINTENANCE ITEMS.
The 108R00581 drum is for the Xerox Phaser 7750 series printers and the 108R00713 drum is for the Xerox Phaser 7760 series printer. The procedures are the same for both drum units and printers.
The drum unit comes installed inside a protective alignment housing that is used to install the drum unit into the printer so that the OPC drum doesn’t get damaged during installation. This protective alignment housing does NOT install into the printer, rather just helps with sliding the drum unit itself into the printer.
The printers use a total of 4 drum units each, one for each color. The drums are sold individually.
Not Recognizing
Verify you have the correct drum unit for your specific printer model.
There is a smart chip located on the inside end of the drum unit. Check the chip for damage or debris. You can use a Q-tip to reach and clean the four gold contacts.
To remove and install this drum unit into a Xerox Phaser 7750 Series printer do the following;
– Open the front cover.
– Pull up the lock lever to unlock the lever and then pull down the bar. This raises the drum units for replacing.
– Remove the imaging drum unit that needs replacing by pressing down on the tab and pulling the drum from the printer.
– The drum unit comes inside a protective holder that is used to align and install the drum into the printer without damaging the sensitive OPC drum. Push the holder into the slot lining the top arrow to the markings on the printer and the bottom slot against the bar you moved down in the previous steps.
– Push down on the release tab then use the slide tab on the drum unit to push the imaging drum unit into the printer.
– Remove the holder and then push the bar up. Push down the lock lever to lock the bar into place.

Print Quality Issues
There is a print quality test page that can be printed to help determine print quality issues. To print this page do the following;
– On the printer’s control panel, select Information > Information Pages > then select Paper Tips Page.
Look at the page to try to determine what the print quality issue is and see if it is only occurring with one color or if it is occurring across the entire page.
If you are getting smears on the printed pages there is a cleaning function on the printer specifically for resolving smearing issues. To run this cleaning do the following;
– On the printer’s control panel, select Troubleshooting > Print Quality Problems > then select Remove Print Smears.
– Several cleaning pages will print. It may be necessary to run the cleaning 2-3 times to completely resolve the issue.
If you are receiving repeating image defects on the page, such as a patch of toner shows every 3 inches, there is a cleaning function on the printer that specifically for repeating image defect issues. To run this cleaning do the following;
– On the printer’s control panel, Select Troubleshooting > Print Quality Problems > then select Repeating Defects Page.
If a particular color appears to be printing lightly then the toner may be low for that color. Try removing the toner cartridge from the printer and gently shaking it to redistribute the toner. Reinstall the toner cartridge and try printing again. If the issue is resolved, then the toner cartridge will need replacing soon. The toner cartridge is separate from the drum unit.
Not Fitting
Verify you have the correct drum unit for your specific printer model. Make sure you are replacing the drum unit and not the toner cartridge. Check inside the printer for obstructions. Check the drum unit itself for physical damage.
