Not Recognizing
Verify you have the correct cartridge for your specific printer.
There is a smart chip located on the top of the cartridge. Check the chip for damage or debris. A clean, dry, lint-free cloth can be used to gently clean the two gold contacts.
Verify that the cartridge is installed correctly and fully inserted into the printer. Make sure you are installing the correct color into the correct color slot. The color order starting at the color closest to you is Black, Cyan, Magenta, and Yellow.
Print Quality Issues
There is a plastic cover that protects the OPC drum which must be removed prior to installation. There is also a pull tape seal on the side of the cartridge that must be removed. Verify that this pull tape seal is fully removed from the cartridge.
Gently rock the print cartridge from front to back to distribute the toner evenly inside the print cartridge.
There is also a Print Quality Page feature built into the printer that will print a page that will help isolate print quality problems. To print this page;
1. On the product control panel, open the Reports menu.
2. Select the Print Quality Page item to print it.
This page contains five bands of color, which are divided into four groups as indicated in the following illustration. By examining each group, you can isolate the problem to a particular print cartridge.
If streaks appear in multiple color bands then a component other than the print cartridge is probably causing the problem.
The OPC drum is located on the bottom of the cartridge. Visually check the OPC drum for damage or debris. A clean, soft, dry, lint-free cloth can be used to gently wipe the drum. Do NOT use moisture of any kind. Do NOT touch the OPC drum.
