THIS TONER CARTRIDGE DOES NOT HAVE INTEGRATED DRUM UNIT. THE DRUM IS A SEPARATE UNIT FROM THE TONER CARTRIDGE.
The MLT-D307E is an extra high yield cartridge that will only work with specific printer models. It is important to check that you have the correct cartridge for your specific printer model.
Not Recognizing
Verify you have the correct cartridge for your specific printer model.
Samsung has a reputation of doing stealth firmware updates, where they disguise a firmware update as a routine update. A firmware update may lock out the use of aftermarket cartridges. Usually when a firmware updates goes through cartridges that were once working will no longer read and/or a cartridge gives an incompatible error and you try others (reships, multiples in the same order, etc) which also won’t recognize. Try to find out if the customer has done any recent software updates on their printer. If you notice a pattern, report it on the CSR Blog under Error Reporting.
There’s a RJ45 connector that is the smart chip located on the side of the cartridge. Visually check the connector for damage or debris.
Verify the cartridge is being installed correctly and that it is fully inserted into the printer.
To remove and install this toner cartridge into a Samsung ML-5017ND series printer do the following;
– Open the front cover and pull the toner cartridge out.
– Hold the new toner cartridge by the handle and slowly insert the cartridge into the opening in the printer.
– Close the front cover. Ensure that the cover is securely closed.
Print Quality Issues
Slowly shake the cartridge five or six times to distribute the toner evenly inside the cartridge.
During the printing process, paper, toner, and dust particles can accumulate inside the printer. This buildup can cause print quality problems, such as toner specks or smearing. Cleaning the inside of the printer clears and reduces these problems.
– Turn off the power to the printer and disconnect the power cord from the back of the printer.
– Grab the toner cartridge by its handle and pull it from the printer. Grab the imaging unit by the handle and remove this from the printer as well.
– Using a dry, lint-free cloth wipe the interior of the printer to ensure it is clean and free of dust and debris.
– Using a dry cotton swab, gently clean the LSU (laser scan unit). Do NOT use moisture of any kind!
– Grasp the imaging unit by its handle and gently re-install it into the printer. Grasping the handle of the toner cartridge, insert the cartridge into the printer.
– Re-connect the power cord and turn the printer on.
Lines, streaking, ghosting, and repeating image defects are drum related issues. The drum unit is a separate, replaceable, maintenance item and will need to be replaced after a period of usage. Usually after 4-6 toner changes.
Not Fitting
Verify you have the correct cartridge for your specific printer model. Make sure the white plastic protective clip has been removed. Make sure the cartridge is being installed in the correct orientation. Check inside the printer for any obstructions. Check the cartridge itself for physical damage.
