THIS TONER CARTRIDGE DOES NOT HAVE AN INTEGRATED DRUM. THE DRUM UNIT IS A SEPARATE, REPLACEABLE MAINTENANCE ITEM.
Not Recognizing
Verify you have the correct cartridge for your specific printer.
There is a RJ-45 jack located on the side of the cartridge that is part of the smart chip. Check this jack for damage or debris that may be causing it not to connect properly. Try removing the toner cartridge from the printer, disconnect the power cord for 10 secs, reconnect the power cord, and re-try the cartridge.
Make sure the cartridge is installed correctly and is fully inserted into the printer.
Samsung has a reputation of doing stealth firmware updates, where they disguise a firmware update as a routine update. A firmware update may lock out the use of aftermarket cartridges. Usually when a firmware updates goes through cartridges that were once working will no longer read and/or a cartridge gives an incompatible error and you try others (reships, multiples in the same order, etc) which also won’t recognize.
To remove and install the toner cartridge in a Samsung ML-5512ND printer do the following;
– Open the top cover of the printer. Grasp the toner cartridge by the handle and pull the toner cartridge out of the printer.
– Grasp the new toner cartridge by the handle and insert the cartridge into the printer. Make sure that the toner cartridge fully seats in the printer.
Print Quality Issues
Holding the handle of the cartridge, thoroughly roll it from side to side to evenly distribute the toner.
During the printing process, paper toner, and dust particles can accumulate inside the printer. This buildup can cause print quality issues, such as toner specks or smearing. Cleaning the inside of the printer clears or reduces these problems. To clean inside the printer do the following;
– Turn the printer off and unplug the power cord. Open the top cover and pull the toner cartridge out. Set it on a clean flat surface.
– Pull the imaging unit out. Set it on a clean flat surface.
– With a dry lint-free cloth, wipe away any dust and spilled toner. When cleaning the inside of the printer, be careful not to touch the transfer roller, located underneath the toner cartridge. Oil from your fingers can cause print quality issues.
– Locate and clean the long strip of glass (LSU) inside the printer and clean it using a dry cotton swab or Q-tip.
– Hold the imaging unit by the handle and slowly insert it into the opening of the printer.
– Hold the toner cartridge by the handle and slowly insert it into the printer.
– Close the top cover and make sure it is securely closed.
Not Fitting
Verify you have the correct cartridge for your specific printer model. Check inside the printer for any obstructions which may be causing the cartridge not to fit. Check the cartridge itself for physical damage.
