Not Recognizing

Verify you have the correct cartridge for your specific model printer.

This cartridge uses a RF or radio frequency sensor chip that’s located on the bottom of the cartridge. This chip does not make physical contact with the printer but rather sits in a specific position to be picked up by the printer’s sensor. Make sure that the cartridge is properly inserted and locks into place to ensure the chip is in the correct position. If the problem persists it is most likely an issue with the chip on the cartridge.

To remove and install both the toner cartridge and the waste toner box in the Kyocera Mita KM400CI printer do the following;

Print Quality Issues

If the pages are coming out light, try removing the toner cartridge and tapping on the top of the cartridge.  Then, shake the toner cartridge horizontally to redistribute the toner evenly.

 km400n

If the printed images appear blurry or white spots appear on the printed pages then try refreshing the drum unit.  To perform the drum refresh do the following;

–          Press the System Menu key.

–          Press ▼, Adjustment/Maintenance

–          Press Next of Drum Refresh

–          Press Execute to drum refresh

If the toner is smearing or coming off the paper, try switching to a thicker paper media setting.  The paper media selection can be changed under the Paper Selection menu option on the touchscreen of the printer

Streaking, lines, ghost images, and repeating image defects are drum related issues.  The drum unit is separate from the toner cartridge.

Not Fitting

Verify you have the correct cartridge for your specific printer model.  Check to make sure the cartridge is being installed in the correct orientation.  Make sure you are installing the correct color cartridge into the correct slot.  Check the inside of the printer for any obstructions that may be causing the cartridge not to fit properly.  Check the cartridge itself for physical damage.
