INK TANK – These don’t have a print head attached so DO NOT do the paper towel method. These cartridges are compatible cartridges and may appear to look different from the OEM.
Extra High Yield – These are the extra high yield version of the Dell Series 31 cartridges.
Not Recognizing
Verify you have the correct cartridges for your specific model printer.
These cartridges use a smart chip that’s located on the end of the cartridge. The best solution for cartridges using a smart chip that aren’t reading properly is to remove the cartridge from the printer, disconnect the power cord for 10-15 seconds, re-connect the power cord, and re-insert the cartridge.
Make sure the cartridges are installed into the correct color slots and that they are fully inserted into the printer.
To remove and install these cartridges in a Dell V525w printer do the following;
– Make sure the printer is on.
– Open the top of the printer.
– Press the release tab on the color you are replacing, and then remove the cartridge from the printer.
– Make sure you have the correct color cartridge for the color you are replacing. Insert the ink cartridge into the correct color slot. Slide your finger along the ink cartridge until it clicks into place.
– Close the printer.
Print Quality Issues
There is a plastic protective clip on the cartridge which must be snapped off before installation.
There is a yellow piece of tape which must be removed prior to installation. This opens a vent hole which allows the ink to exit the cartridge properly.
These cartridges do not have the print heads built into the cartridge itself. The print heads are separate. For any print quality issue a print head cleaning should be performed. To run the print head cleaning on a Dell V525w printer do the following;
NOTE: For specific instructions on running a cleaning on a specific printer that also use these cartridges refer to the User’s Guide for that printer available on Dell’s website.
– Make sure paper is loaded into the printer.
– Press the Home button
– Select Setup and press OK
– Select Maintenance and press OK
– Press the ▲ or ▼ button to scroll to Clean Printhead or Deep Clean Printhead, and then press OK
– A cleaning page will print, this will take a couple minutes.
If the first cleaning does not resolve the issue run a second cleaning but select DEEP CLEAN PRINTHEAD instead of the standard CLEAN PRINTHEAD.
Print head cleanings do consume ink to complete so they should be done sparingly. If the deep clean still doesn’t resolve the issue run one more cleaning but allow the printer to sit for 10-15 minutes to allow the ink to soak on the head and loosen any dried ink.
