THIS TONER CARTRIDGE DOES NOT HAVE INTEGRATED DRUM UNIT.  THE DRUM IS A SEPARATE UNIT FROM THE TONER CARTRIDGE.

Not Recognizing

Verify you have the correct cartridge for your specific printer model.

There is a smart chip located on the side of the cartridge, make sure this is present.  For recognition issues with cartridges that use a smart chip it is best to remove the cartridge from the printer, disconnect the power cord for 10-15 seconds, reconnect the power cord, and reinstall the toner cartridge.

Make sure the cartridge is fully inserted into the printer.

To remove and install this toner cartridge into a Xerox Workcentre 3045 printer do the following;

–          Remove any paper in the paper tray.

–          Close the paper tray.

–          Open the front cover to the printer.

–          Twist the handle on the toner cartridge counter-clockwise to unlock it.

–          Pull the toner cartridge from the printer.  Be careful of any loose toner powder.

–          Insert the new toner cartridge into the printer.  Twist the handle on the toner cartridge clockwise to lock the cartridge into place and open the toner shutter.

–          Close the front cover.

–          Open the paper tray.

–          Insert the paper back into the tray.

Print Quality Issues

If you are getting light prints or you are nearing the end of your toner life you can refresh the toner using a function on the printer.  This causes the printer to stir the toner powder inside the cartridge without you having to remove the toner cartridge from the printer.  To do this, do the following;

–          On the printer control panel, press the System button.

–          To select Admin Menu, press the arrow buttons, then press OK.

–          Select Maintenance, then press OK.

–          Select Toner Refresh, then press OK.

–          At Black, press OK.

–          To select Yes, press the arrow buttons, then press OK.

The process runs automatically and can take up to 3 minutes to complete.  This should NOT be done repeatedly as it uses the toner supply.

You can also adjust the density on the printer to resolve light printing.  A positive density adjustment makes the prints darker, while a negative adjustment makes the prints lighter.  To adjust the density;

–          On the printer control panel, press the System button.

–          To select Admin Menu, press the arrow buttons, then press OK.

–          Select Maintenance, then press OK.

–          Select Density Adjustment, then press OK.

–          To increase or decrease the amount of offset, use the arrow buttons, then press OK.

–          To return to the Ready screen, press Return.

If the toner is smearing off the paper then you may need to change the Paper Type settings.  For example, change Plain to Lightweight Cardstock.  Ambient humidity can affect the toner fusion so it’s normal to sometimes have to adjust to a thicker paper setting even if you are not printing on thicker paper.  When printing to thicker paper, such as card stock or label paper, it is normally necessary to adjust your paper type.

For smearing issues you can also adjust the fusing unit.  If print is smearing increasing the offset can resolve this, if the toner is blistered or mottled, decreasing the offset can resolve this.  To adjust the fusing unit;

–          On the printer control panel, press the System button.

–          To select Admin Menu, press the arrow buttons, then press OK.

–          Select Maintenance, then press OK.

–          Select Adjust Fusing Unit, then press OK.

–          To select the paper type for the adjustment, press the arrow buttons, then press OK.

–          To increase or decrease the amount of offset, press the arrow buttons, then press OK.

–          Repeat this procedure for each paper type you need to adjust.

–          To return to the ready screen, press Return.

Lines, streaking, ghosting, and repeating image defects are drum/developer related issues.  The drum unit is separate from the toner cartridge.

Not Fitting

Verify you have the correct cartridge for your specific printer model.  Make sure the cartridge is being installed in the correct orientation.  Check inside the printer for any obstructions.  Check the cartridge itself for physical damage.
