THIS IS A TONER THAT HAS THE OPC DRUM BUILT INTO THE CARTRIDGE ITSELF AND IS REPLACED AS ONE WHOLE UNIT. THERE IS NO SEPARATE DRUM UNIT.
The CF214X is the high capacity version of the CF214A toner cartridge.
Not Recognizing
Verify you have the correct cartridge for your specific printer model.
There’s a smart chip located on the front of the toner cartridge which has two gold connection points. Make sure the chip is clean and undamaged. You can use a dry, clean, lint-free cloth to clean the connections. For recognition issues it’s best to remove the toner cartridge from the printer, disconnect the power cord for the printer for 10-15 seconds, re-connect the power cord, and then re-insert the toner cartridge.
Ensure that the toner cartridge is properly installed and fully inserted.
To remove and install the toner cartridge into the Laserjet Enterprise M725 series printers do the following;
– Press the cartridge door release button.
– Open the cartridge door.
– Grasp the toner cartridge by its handle and remove the cartridge from the printer.
– Align the new toner cartridge with the tracks inside the printer, and insert the toner cartridge until it is firmly seated.
– Close the cartridge door. After a short time, the control panel should display the Ready message.
Print Quality Issues
There is a pull tape seal on the side of the cartridge that must be removed prior to installation. It is important that this seal is completely removed. If the cartridge is printing blank pages or after 2-3 pages it is now printing blank then the pull tape seal has not been removed or has broken off inside the cartridge while being removed.
Holding the cartridge by its ends, gently rock the cartridge back and forth a few times to redistribute the toner inside the cartridge.
The OPC drum is located on the bottom of the cartridge covered by a spring loaded plastic shutter. Lift the shutter up to view the drum. Do NOT touch the OPC drum. You can use a clean, dry, lint-free cloth to gently clean the drum. Do NOT use moisture of any kind.
If you are experiencing specks of toner on the printed pages, toner is smearing on the printed pages, or repeating marks are occurring, there is a cleaning page that can be printed through the printer. To print this cleaning page, do the following;
– From the Home screen on the printer control panel, scroll to and touch the Device Maintenance button.
– Open the Calibration/Cleaning menu.
– Select Cleaning Page, then touch the Print button to print the page.
If the toner is coming off the paper, you will need to adjust the paper type to a thicker paper setting. When printing on bonded, card, or heavy paper, the paper type will need to be changed to the paper you are printing on. This ensures that the paper moves the correct speed through the fuser and the fuser reaches the proper temperature to properly fuse the toner to the paper.
Not Fitting
Verify you have the correct cartridge for your specific printer model. Make sure the cartridge is being installed in the correct direction. Check inside the printer for any obstructions that may be interferring with the installation of the toner cartridge. Check the toner cartridge itself for physical damage. Verify that the pull tape seal has been removed from the side of the cartridge.
