THESE TONER CARTRIDGES DOE NOT HAVE AN INTEGRATED DRUM UNIT.  THE DRUM IS A SEPARATE UNIT FROM THE TONER CARTRIDGES.

There are four colors in this series; Black, Yellow, Magenta, and Yellow.

The black cartridge is physically larger than the color cartridges.

Not Recognizing

Verify you have the correct cartridge for your specific printer model.

Make sure that the correct color cartridge is being installed into the correct color location in the printer.

These cartridges use a smart chip located on the end of the cartridge.  Check the chip for damage or debris.  A lint-free cloth can be used to gently wipe the gold contacts if needed.

For most recognition issues, the best troubleshooting you can do is to remove the cartridge, unplug the power cord to the printer for 10 seconds, re-connect the power, and reinstall the cartridge.

To remove and install the toner cartridges into a Xerox Phaser 7120 printer do the following;

–          Open the front cover to access the cartridges.

–          Grasp the cartridge you are removing, in this case the black, and then pull the cartridge straight out of the printer.

–          Make sure you have the correct color cartridge for the color you are replacing.  Align the guides on the cartridge with the notches in the printer, and then push the cartridge all the way into the printer until it stops.

–          Close the front cover.

Print Quality Issues

There may be a piece of orange tape that is covering the toner shutter.  Make sure this tape is not present on the cartridge or it may cause the shutter not to open properly.

Hold the toner cartridge and shake it 5 or 6 times.

Try to determine if the print quality issue is occurring with one color in particular or if it’s occurring across all the print.  This will help pinpoint if the problem is with one toner cartridge or if it’s a larger issue.

If you are getting streaks on the page the printhead lenses may be dirty.  The printer is constructed with four printhead lenses.  To clean the lenses do the following;

–          Turn the printer off using the power switch visible on the lower center tray.

–          Open the front cover.

–          Grip the orange tabs on the waste toner container, then pull the container toward you.  Set the container aside.

–          Remove the cleaning tool from the front cover.

–          Insert the cleaning tool slowly into each slot until it stop, then slowly slide the tool out.  Repeat for each of the 4 printheads.

–          Store the cleaning tool in the front cover.

–          Align the bottom of the waste toner container with the tabs.

–          Rotate the waste toner container toward the printer until it clicks into place.

–          Close the front cover.

–          Turn the printer on using the power switch visible on the lower center tray.

Ghosting, lines, streaking, and repeating defects will be a drum related issue.  The drum unit is separate from the toner cartridges.

Make sure that the cartridge is fully inserted.  When the cartridge is installed, the toner shutter opens on the cartridge to release the toner powder.

Not Fitting

Verify you have the correct cartridges for your specific printer model.  Make sure you have the correct color cartridge installed into the correct color slot.  Check inside the printer for any obstructions.  Check the cartridge itself for physical damage.
