INK TANK – These don’t have a print head attached so DO NOT perform the paper towel method.

There are four colors in this series of cartridges; Black, Cyan, Magenta, and Yellow.

These are re-manufactured cartridges.  The OEM T200XL series come in a black casing, where our remanufactured cartridges are currently light grey in appearance.  They will still fit and function as T200XL cartridges.

Works with Expression 310/410 printer, we probably will still get customers (even from recent orders) that received the older cartridges that did not read.  This is due to the older cartridges still being mixed in our inventory as we slowly turn it over.  Please reship.

Not Recognizing

Verify you have the correct cartridge for your specific model printer.

Make sure the cartridge is installed correctly and fully inserted.  Make sure that you are installing the right color into the right slot.

There is a smart chip on the cartridge located on the end that is installed into the printer.  Check to see if there is any dirt or damage on the gold contact points.  Our cartridges uses a compatible chip that differs slightly in appearance from the OEM.  This does NOT affect its funciton.

Try resetting the machine as this resolves a lot of Epson recognition issues.  To do this; remove the cartridges from the printer, power the printer off, unplug the power cord for 10-15 seconds, re-insert the power cord, turn the printer on, and re-insert the cartridges.

To replace an ink cartridge in the Epson XP-200 do the following;

–          Make sure the printer is powered on.

–          Lift up the scanner unit.

–          Press the STOP button.  If a cartridge is low or empty, the printhead moves that cartridge to the indicator position.  Press the STOP button again to check for additional low or empty cartridges.  When all cartridges have been indentified, the printhead moves to the replacement position.  IMPORTANT:  If no cartridges are low or empty, the printhead does not move.  If you want to replace a cartridge before it is low or empty, press the STOP button for 6 seconds.  The printhead moves to the replacement position.

–          Squeeze the tab on the cartridge you are removing and lift the cartridge straight up to remove it.  Make sure to take note of the different locations of the colors.

–          Make sure you have the correct color cartridge for the color you are replacing.  Insert the cartridge into the correct color slot on the printer.  Push the cartridge down until it clicks into place.

–          Lower the scanner unit.

–          Press the STOP button.  The printhead returns to its home position and the printer starts charging the ink.  Charging will take about 1.5 minutes, when the power light stops flashing and remains lit, ink charging is complete.

If one of the color cartridges is reading as empty there is a workaround to allow you to print in Black until you can replace the color reading as empty.  This will need to be done through the computer software and cannot be done through the control panel on the printer.  If you see a message during a print job, do the following to continue printing using Black only;

–          Click STOP or Cancel Print to cancel your print job.

–          Make sure plain white paper is loaded.

–          Access the print settings in your print application you are printing from.

–          Click the Main tab.

–          Select Plain Paper as the paper type setting.

–          Select the Black/Greyscale checkbox.

–          Click OK.

–          Print your document.  The Epson status monitor 3 displays a print message.

–          Click Print in Black to print the document.

Sometimes when our cartridges are installed the LCD screen of certain Epson printers may ask if it is ok to use third party cartridges or if you want to continue using non-genuine Epson cartridges.  You must select Yes, the default option will have No selected so you must change it to Yes.

Print Quality Issues

There is a yellow piece of tape that must be removed prior to installation.  This opens a vent hole.  Do NOT remove the clear piece of plastic found on the nozzle at the bottom of the cartridge; the printer will puncture this during the cartridge replacement cycle.

Try shaking the cartridge or gently tapping it on a hard surface.  Take caution if the cartridge has already been open as ink may leak out of the punctured nozzle and vent hole.  A paper towel can be used to cover these two holes before attempting to shake or tap to prevent ink leakage.

Run a printer nozzle check to help determine which color(s) are causing the print quality issue.  To run a printer nozzle check do the following;

–          Press the power button to the turn the printer OFF.

–          Make sure plain white paper is loaded.

–          Hold down the STOP button and the press the power button to turn the printer on.

–          When the printer turns on, release both buttons.  The printer will print a nozzle check pattern.

–          Check the printed pattern to see if there are gaps in the lines.

A print head cleaning should be performed when experiencing any type of print quality issue.  On some Epson printers you will have the ability to select whether the cleaning will be done on the black or the colors depending on which cartridge is giving the issue to help conserve ink.  Print head cleaning does use a lot of ink so it should be done sparingly.  Epson recommends that if the first cleaning doesn’t resolve the issue to perform a second clean but allow the printer to sit for 10-15 minutes BEFORE attempting to do any printing.  This allows the ink to soak on the print head and help soften or loosen any dried ink which may be clogging the nozzles.  To perform the cleaning;

–          Make sure none of the lights on the printer are indicating there is an error.

–          Be sure that you have plain white paper loaded.

–          Hold down the STOP button for 3 seconds to start the cleaning cycle.  The power light will flash during the cleaning cycle.

–          Run a nozzle check to confirm the issue is resolved.

Also, remove the cartridge and check the bottom to make sure the nozzle has been punctured.  While the cartridge is out check the slot in the printer to make sure there is no debris that may be blocking the ink from coming out correctly.

Not Fitting

Make sure you have the correct cartridges for your specific printer model.

Be sure you are installing the correct color cartridge into the correct color slot.

There are ridges on the cartridges that key the cartridge to specific printers and colors.  During remanufacturing these ridges are generally scraped off to allow different color or series cartridge casings to be used in a variety of printers.  Compare the ridges on the remanufactured cartridge with the ridges on the OEM.  If there is a difference and the ridges are not removed on the remanufactured cartridge, then it will need to be replaced.  If the ridges are removed or are the same as the OEM, then another issue is causing the cartridge not to fit.

Check inside the printer for any debris which may be causing the cartridge not to fit.  Check the cartridge itself for physical damage.
