THIS IS A TONER THAT HAS THE OPC DRUM BUILT INTO THE CARTRIDGE ITSELF AND IS REPLACED AS ONE WHOLE UNIT. THERE IS NO SEPARATE DRUM UNIT.
There are four colors in this series; Black, Cyan, Magenta, and Yellow.
The CF210X Black is the high yield version of the CF210A Black.
Not Recognizing
Verify you have the correct cartridge for your specific model printer.
The cartridge does have a smart chip located on the top of the cartridge. Check the two gold contact points to ensure they are clean and undamaged. A clean, dry, lint-free cloth can be used to gently wipe the connections.
Make sure the cartridge is being installed correctly and is fully inserted. Also verify you are installing the correct color into the correct slot on the printer.
Shipping Lock Error Message:
If you are getting a shipping lock error message that is pointing to a color or colors there are some troubleshooting steps you can perform.
1. Ensure that the locked toner cartridge is not damaged. The cartridge must have a functioning ‘alienation’ mechanism or it may report that the shipping lock has not been removed.
- Open the cartridge tray and locate the cartridge causing the message.
- On the right side of the cartridge, locate the white lever.
- Push the white lever towards the back of the printer. The black ‘alienation arm’ should pop as shown below.
- Release the white lever and both the white lever and black arm should return to their resting positions (the white lever is ‘spring loaded’).
- If any of these pieces are missing from the cartridge or the mechanism does not function as it should, replace the toner cartridge.
- If the issue persists, continue to step #2.

.
2. Force the printer to reinitialize all the cartridges by doing the following:
- Turn off the printer using the Power button.
- Open the cartridge tray and purposely swap two of the cartridges so they are in the wrong positions (it does not matter which cartridges you switch). For example: put the black cartridge where the blue cartridge should go and put the blue cartridge where the black cartridge should go.
- Close the tray and turn the printer back On .
- The following message should be displayed: Supplies in wrong positions .
- Again, power Off the printer, open the cartridge tray and place the cartridges in their correct positions.
- Power On the printer. If the issue persists, continue to step #3.
3. It is possible that the toner cartridge tray high voltage contacts have become dusted due to high use or multiple cartridge swaps.
- Turn Off the printer. Open the cartridge tray and remove the locked cartridge and set it aside.
- Each cartridge slot has 3 high voltage contacts on the left side of the tray. See the red arrows below.
- Using a dry tissue or cloth wipe all 3 contacts in the cartridge slot.
- Now pick up the toner cartridge and note the 3 corresponding contact points on its left side. Also wipe these contact points clean.
- Reinstall the toner cartridge, close the tray, close the door, and turn the printer back on.
To remove and replace these toners in an HP Laserjet Pro 200 color MFP M276 printer do the following;
– Open the front door.
– Pull out the toner cartridge drawer.
– Take note of the different locations of the color cartridges. Grasp the handle on the toner cartridge you are removing, then pull the toner cartridge straight up to remove it.
– Make sure you have the correct color cartridge for the color you are replacing. Insert the toner cartridge into the correct color slot.
– Pull out the pull tape seal on the left side of the cartridge. It is important that the pull tape seal is fully removed from the cartridge. If the cartridge is printing blank or printed 2-3 pages and now prints blank the pull tape has not been removed or broke off inside the cartridge while being removed. The pull tape can be a little tough to pull out so make sure you have a good grasp on the pull tape and pull the tape firmly.
– Close the toner cartridge drawer.
– Close the front door.

Print Quality Issues
There is a plastic cover that protects the OPC drum that must be removed prior to installing the cartridge.
Also, there is a pull tape seal on the side of the cartridge that must be fully removed. It is important that this pull tape seal is completely removed from the cartridge.
The OPC drum is located on the bottom of the cartridge. Do not touch the OPC drum. Visually check the drum for damage or debris. A soft, dry, lint-free cloth can be used to gently clean off the drum. Do not use moisture of any kind.
There is no protective drum shutter on this cartridge to protect the OPC drum once the removable cover is removed so caution must be taken in handling this cartridge to prevent damage to the drum.
There is a Print Quality Page that can be printed through the printer which can help determine print quality issues. To print this page do the following;
– On the printer control panel, open the Reports menu.
– Select the Print Quality Page item to print it.
This page contains five bands of color, which are divided into four groups as indicated in the following illustration. By examining each group, you can isolate the problem to a particular print cartridge.
If dots or streaks appear in only one of the groups, troubleshoot that particular color cartridge that correlates with that group. If dots appear in more than one group, print a cleaning page. If streaks appear in multiple color bands, a component other than the print cartridges is probably causing the problem.
During the printing process, paper, toner, and dust particles can accumulate inside the printer. Over time, this buildup can cause print quality problems such as toner specks, dots, or smearing. There is a cleaning page that can be printed to help resolve this issue. To print the cleaning page do the following;
– From the Home screen, touch the Setup button.
– Touch the Service menu.
– Touch the Cleaning Page button,
– Load plain letter paper when you are prompted.
– Touch the OK button to begin the cleaning process. The printer prints the first side and then prompts you to remove the page from the output tray and reload it in tray 1, keeping the same orientation. Wait until the process is complete. Discard the cleaning page when done.
If the toner is not adhering to the page and flakes off, especially when printing on paper thicker than standard plain copy paper (IE label paper, bonded paper, etc), this can be caused by the fuser in the printer or more commonly, the incorrect paper setting on the printer. When printing on any paper outside of standard plain paper, you will need to manually switch the paper setting through the control panel on the printer itself. The paper setting is usually found through the menu option Settings and then Paper on the printer. Go to Paper Type or Paper Setting and make sure the correct paper type is selected for the paper you are printing to. Changing the paper setting ensures the fuser gets hot enough to transfer the heat through the thick paper and properly melt the toner. If you are printing to standard paper and are experiencing toner adhesion problems, this can still be resolved by selecting a thicker paper type setting on the printer. It could be a case of too much moisture in the paper or toner which requires a hotter fuser or longer fuser contact time to properly melt the toner.
Gently rock the print cartridge from front to back to distribute the toner evenly inside the cartridge. This can help resolve light printing issues.
If the printed pages have colored shadows, blurry graphics, or areas that have poor color, you might need to calibrate the printer to align the colors. To calibrate the colors, do the following;
– On the printer control panel, open the System Setup menu.
– Open the Print Quality menu, and select the Color Calibration.
– Select the Calibrate Now option.
Not Fitting
Verify you have the correct cartridges for your specific printer model. Make sure the correct color is being installed into the correct color slot. Make sure all the protective covers and seals were removed from the cartridge. Check inside the printer for any obstructions. Check the cartridge itself for physical damage.
