These are not inkjet or toner cartridges but rather wax cubes which the printer melts and uses to print using a separate print head.  They are compatible so their shape will differ greatly from the OEM sticks however they will fit and will work.

This printer uses 4 colors; Black, Magenta, Yellow, and Cyan.

The black is sold as a 10 or 5 pack, the colors are sold as 5 packs.

Not Recognizing

Verify you have the correct ink sticks for your specific printer.

Being that these are wax cubes there is no smart chip or any kind of electronics on the cartridge.  Make sure that the cartridge is fully inserted and that the correct color is in the correct slot.

Make sure the sticks are installed correctly and have properly slid into the appropriate color slot.  The color slots are keyed into a specific shape which should only allow the correct color to be installed.

To install these wax sticks into a Xerox Phaser 8200 do the following;

–          Open the top cover.

–          Make sure you have the correct color stick for the color being added.  Place the ink stick into the opening of the correct ink-loading bin.

–          Close the top cover.  The front panel may read Warming Up until the printer is ready for printing.

Click on the YouTube video below to watch ink sticks being installed into a Phaser 8560.  The process is very similar for the Phaser 8200

Print Quality Issues

Xerox provides different cleaning options on the printer to resolve various print quality issues.  For a print quality issue such as bands of color missing you will want to print the Diagnostics Pages to help determine the problem.

To run the Diagnostic Pages to determine if the problem is occuring for one color or multiple colors do the following;

–          With Menus highlighted, press the OK key.

–          Scroll to the Printable Pages Menu by pressing the ▲ or ▼ key.

–          Press the OK key.

–          Scroll to Print Diagnostic Pages.

–          Press the OK key.

–          On the pages that print, you will see numbered bands of colors printed to help determine where the issue is occuring.

If one or more colors bars are missing you will want to run the Eliminate Light Stripes utility on the printer.  To do this do the following;

–          With Menus highlighted, press the OK key.

–          Scroll to Support Menu by pressing the ▲ or ▼ key.

–          Press the OK key.

–          Scroll to Improve Print Quality?.

–          Press the OK key.

–          Scroll to Eliminate Light Stripes.

–          Press the OK key.  If there is still a color band missing it may be necessary to run this cleaning up to 3 times.

If all four color bars are missing in the test print then you may need to clean the maintenance drawer wiper blade or the Rapid Release Guide.

To clean the maintenance drawer wiper blade; do the following;

–          Open the front cover.

–          Remove the maintenance drawer.

–          Use a lint-free cloth to clean the top and upper edges of the flexible plastic wiper blade located on the top of the maintenance drawer between the roller and waste tray.

–          Replace the maintenance drawer and close the front cover.

To clean the Rapid Release Guide do the following;

–          Open the exit cover.

–          Tilt up the green paper guide.

–          Remove the Rapid Release Guide by lifting up on the green tabs.  Do NOT use any sharp objects in this area of the printer.  Handle the Rapid Release Guide carefully to avoid bending or damaging the clear plastic edge.

–          Gently clean the plastic Rapid Release Guide by wiping it with cloth dampened with rubbing alcohol.

–          Make sure the thin, white dust shield is lying on top of the metal shaft.  Then, reinstall the Rapid Release Guide, pressing down on the green tabs to snap the guide into place.

–          Verify that the Rapid Release Guide is fully installed by gently tugging on it.  If it isn’t snapped into place, it may cause jams and print quality issues.  Close the exit cover.

If you are experiencing print smears or smudging, there is a built in cleaning function to resolve these issues.  To run the cleaning function, do the following;

–          With Menus highlighted, press the OK key.

–          Scroll to Support Menu by pressing the ▲ or ▼ key.

–          Press the OK key.

–          Scroll to Improve Print Quality?.

–          Press the OK key.

–          Scroll to Remove Print Smears.

–          Press the OK key.

If there are blank lines going through the pages or ghosting images then their maintenance kit on the printer may need to be replaced.  The maintenance kit contains a maintenance roller that keeps the surface of the Imaging Drum clean and oiled as well as contains a new wiper blade.  The maintenance kit will need to be replaced over time usually after anywhere from 10k to 30k pages are printed depending on if they have a standard or extended capacity maintenance kit installed.

If a customer feels their printer has been damaged by the ink sticks or the print quality issues have not been resolved and ALL OTHER troubleshooting has been exhausted the manufacturer who makes the ink sticks has a great warranty.  Get the customer’s complete contact information (email, physical address, phone number, name, customer #, etc.), their printer model, and a description of the problem and email this information to Patrick Devane (patrickd@ldproducts.com).  Patrick will contact the manufacturer to have a technician contact the customer.

**IMPORTANT**:  You must tell the customer this is NOT an instant fix.  They will be contacted by EMAIL first by a technician who will need them to do some troubleshooting over email.  If the issue is not resolved by email then the technician may call them.  Let the customer know that the problem will be resolved however it will take some time and they will need to go through some troubleshooting.

Not Fitting

Verify you have the correct ink sticks for your specific printer model.  Try installing the ink sticks in a different orientation.  Make sure you are installing the correct color into the correct color slot.
