THIS TONER CARTRIDGE DOES NOT HAVE THE OPC DRUM INTEGRATED.  THE DRUM UNIT IS A SEPARATE, REPLACEABLE, MAINTENANCE ITEM.

This is not a toner cartridge that installs into the printer.  Instead it simply re-fills the toner box inside the printer with toner powder and then is discarded.

 

Not Recognizing

 

Verify you have the correct cartridge for your specific printer.

 

The toner itself is sensed via an electrical charge in the hopper of the printer.  Once the level hits a certain point this triggers the warning message to add toner.

 

Being that you are not physically installing a toner cartridge but rather just adding toner powder to the printer there are more steps than what’s normally done when just installing a cartridge.  To add toner to the Canon NP-6030 do the following;

–          Open the front door and swing out the hopper to the front.

 

–          Shake the toner cartridge to loosen up and even out the toner inside.  It’s possible for the toner to become compacted inside the cartridge.

 

–          Fit the boss on the toner cartridge into the groove at the rear of the hopper, and press the cartridge until a click is heard.

 

–          While holding the toner cartridge, pull out the black tab from the hopper to the front.

 

–          While holding the toner cartridge, pull out the gray tab to the front until it stops.

–          Tap lightly on the top of the toner cartridge so that all toner is transferred to the hopper.

–          Push the grip of the hopper toward the rear until a click is heard.

–          Detach the toner cartridge from the hopper.

–          Put the hopper back to its original position.

–          Close the front door.

 

Print Quality Issues

 

All print quality issues will be related to the drum unit or the printer itself.  If the prints start becoming light then they might be running low on toner powder in their toner box or their drum needs replacing.

 

Not Fitting

 

Verify you have the correct cartridge for your specific printer model.  Make sure you are adding the toner correctly to the machine by going through the instructions outlined before.  This toner cartridge does not permanently install into the printer, it merely adds toner to the internal toner hopper of the printer.
