THIS IS A THERMAL FAX FILM ROLL WITH THE CARTRIDGE FRAME.  IT USES A CARBON FILM SHEET AND HEAT TO TRANSFER THE TEXT TO THE PAPER.  AS PRINTING OCCURS THE USED FILM SHEET WILL ROLL TO ONE SIDE OF THE CARTRIDGE.

Not Recognizing

There is no chip used in the film cartridge, there is a “leader” built into the film that will trip a sensor so the machine knows a new roll has been installed.  If you are getting a “Check Film” error then the film was not installed correctly into the machine.  Follow the instructions below.

To remove and replace the film cartridge in a Brother Intellifax 560 fax machine do the following;

–          Open the top cover by lifting the gray lever on the right side.  Remove the print cartridge containing the used ribbon.

–          Install the new print cartridge, by inserting the recessed first and placing the cartridge into its four holders.  Make sure to tighten up any slack in the film by turning the rollers.

–          Make sure the cartridge is fully in place.

–          Press down on both sides of the top cover to close it securely.

Print Quality Issues

There is a red plastic clip that must be removed prior to installation.

If dirty patterns or black bands appear on a copied or received document then the print head may be dirty.  To clean the print head do the following;

–          Unplug the power cord.

–          Open the top cover and remove the cartridge.

–          Wipe the print head with a lint-free cloth that is dry.

–          Reinstall the cartridge and close the top cover.

–          Reconnect the power cord.

Not Fitting

Verify you have the correct cartridge roll for your specific printer model.  Make sure the red plastic protective clip was removed.
