THIS IS A THERMAL FAX FILM ROLL.  IT USES A CARBON FILM SHEET AND HEAT TO TRANSFER THE TEXT TO THE PAPER.  AS PRINTING OCCURS THE USED FILM SHEET WILL ROLL TO ONE SIDE OF THE CARTRIDGE.

THIS IS SOLD AS A TWO PACK.

Not Recognizing

This is a refill for the existing film cartridge.  There is no chip used in the film cartridge, there is a “leader” built into the film that will trip a sensor so the machine knows a new roll has been installed.  If they are getting a “Check Film” error then the film was not installed correctly into the film cartridge.  Follow the instructions below.

To remove and replace the film roll in the film cartridge in a Panasonic KX-FP152 fax machine do the following;

–          Open the front cover by pulling up the center part.

–          Push the back cover open (green) on the right side of the unit, OR, push the back cover open lever (green) inside of the unit.

–          Open the back cover.

–          Pull out the blue gear and remove the used ink film.  Remove the used core.

–          Insert the blue core of the front ink film roll into the right slot of the unit (1).  Insert the “T” shaped gear (blue) into the left slot of the unit (2).  Insert the rear ink film roll (3).

–          Turn the “T” shaped gear (blue) in the direction of the arrow.  Make sure that the ink film is wrapped around the blue core at least once.

–          Close the back cover securely by pushing down on the dotted area at both ends (1).  Close the front cover securely (2).

–          The following message will be displayed while the unit is checking that there is no slack in the ink film.

Print Quality Issues

There is a white band to remove prior to installation.

If dirty patterns or black bands appear on a copied or received document then the thermal head may be dirty.  To clean the thermal head do the following;

–          Disconnect the power cord and the telephone line cord.

–          Open the front cover by pulling up the center part.

–          Open the back cover by pushing the back cover open button (green) or pushing the back cover open lever (green).  Clean the thermal head with a lint-free cloth moistened with rubbing alcohol (to prevent damage due to static electricity, do NOT use a dry cloth and do NOT touch the thermal head).  Do NOT touch the black sheets on the thermal head.

–          Close the back cover securely by pushing down on the dotted area at both ends.  Close the front cover securely.

–          Connect the power cord and the telephone line cord.

Not Fitting

Verify they have the correct refill roll for their specific printer model.  Make sure they are installing this into the film cartridge that is in their printer.  Double-check their installation of the film roll core by following the steps outlined previously.
