THIS CARTRIDGE DOES NOT HAVE THE OPC DRUM UNIT INTEGRATED. THERE IS A SEPERATE DRUM UNIT WHICH IS A REPLACEABLE MAINTENANCE ITEM.
Not Recognizing
Verify they have the correct drum unit for their specific model printer.
This cartridge uses a RF or radio frequency sensor chip that’s located under the plastic tab in the middle of the cartridge. This chip does not make physical contact with the printer but rather sits in a specific position to be picked up by the printer’s sensor. Make sure that the cartridge is properly inserted and locks into place to ensure the chip is in the correct position. If the problem persists it is most likely an issue with the chip on the cartridge.
To remove and install this toner cartridge into a Lexmark X860 printer do the following;
– Open the front door.
– Grasp the handle and pull out the cartridge.
– Insert the new cartridge into the printer. Push firmly to ensure that the cartridge is fully seated.
– Close the front door.
Print Quality Issues
Roll the cartridge several times to loosen the toner powder inside the cartridge.
To help isolate print quality problems, print the print quality test pages. To do this, do the following;
– Turn off the printer.
– Make sure plain white paper is loaded into the printer.
– Hold down the 2 and 6 buttons while turning on the printer.
– Release the button when the screen with the progress bar appears. The printer performs a power-on sequence, and then the Configuration menu appears.
– Touch the down arrow until Print Quality Pages appears.
– Touch the Print Quality Pages. The print quality test pages print.
– Touch Back.
– Touch Exit Configuration.
Use the print quality test pages to help determine the print quality issue occurring and the cause.
Almost all ghost imaging, streaking, lines, and duplicating image defects will be a result of a problem with the drum unit. The drum unit is a maintenance item that will need to be changed out after around 4-6 toner changes.
This toner is pretty basic and almost all print quality issues will be drum or printer related. The toner cartridge simply releases toner powder into the drum unit via a shutter on the bottom of the cartridge that is opened when the cartridge is pushed into the printer.
Not Fitting
Verify they have the correct cartridge for their specific printer model. Check inside the printer for any obstructions which may be causing the cartridge not to fit properly. Check the cartridge itself for physical damage.
