THIS IS JUST A DRUM UNIT.  THE TONER CARTRIDGE IS A SEPARATE, REPLACEABLE, MAINTENANCE ITEM.

Not Recognizing

Verify they have the correct drum unit for their specific printer model.

This drum unit uses a RF or radio frequency sensor chip that’s located in the small compartment on the back of the drum unit. This chip does not make physical contact with the printer but rather sits in a specific position to be picked up by the printer’s sensor. Make sure that the drum unit is properly inserted and locks into place to ensure the chip is in the correct position. If the problem persists it is most likely an issue with the chip on the drum unit.

To remove and install this drum unit into a Xerox Workcentre 5225/5230 Series printer do the following;

–          Pull the front cover towards you to open it.

–          Open the bypass tray if necessary.

–          Open Cover A while lifting up the release lever.

–          Lift up on the drum cartridge release latch.

–          Pull the drum out until the handle is visible.

–          Grasp the handle and remove the drum unit from the machine.

–          Insert the new drum unit into the machine.

–          Push on the drum until it clicks into position.

–          Close Cover A until it latches.

–          Close the bypass tray.

–          Close the front cover.

Print Quality Issues

The OPC drum is protected by a spring loaded plastic shutter.  Lift the shutter to visually inspect the OPC drum.  Do NOT touch the OPC drum.  A soft, clean, dry, lint-free, cloth can be used to gently wipe the OPC drum.  Do NOT use moisture of any kind.

Remove the toner cartridge and try gently rocking it.

Not Fitting

Verify they have the correct drum unit for their specific printer model.  Make sure they are replacing the drum unit and not the toner cartridge.  Make sure the black paper has been removed.  Check inside the printer for obstructions.  Check the drum unit itself for physical damage.
