THIS IS JUST A DRUM UNIT. THE TONER CARTRIDGE IS A SEPARATE, REPLACEABLE, MAINTENANCE ITEM.
Not Recognizing
Verify they have the correct drum unit for their specific printer model.
This cartridge uses a RF or radio frequency sensor chip that’s located under the plastic tab in the middle of the cartridge. This chip does not make physical contact with the printer but rather sits in a specific position to be picked up by the printer’s sensor. Make sure that the cartridge is properly inserted and locks into place to ensure the chip is in the correct position. If the problem persists it is most likely an issue with the chip on the cartridge.
To remove and install this drum unit into a Okidata B930 Series printer do the following;
– Open the front and side covers.
– Hold the drum unit by the grip and pull it out slowly.
– Fold the handle down and slide the drum unit into the printer.
– Close the printer covers.
Print Quality Issues
There is also a piece of white paper that surrounds the OPC drum which must be removed prior to installation.
The OPC drum is protected by a spring loaded plastic shutter. Lift the shutter to visually inspect the OPC drum. Do NOT touch the OPC drum. A soft, clean, dry, lint-free, cloth can be used to gently wipe the OPC drum. Do NOT use moisture of any kind.
Not Fitting
Verify you have the correct drum unit for your specific printer model. Make sure you are replacing the drum unit and not the toner cartridge. Make sure the black paper has been removed. Check inside the printer for obstructions. Check the drum unit itself for physical damage.
