INK TANK – THESE CARTRIDGES DO NOT HAVE THE PRINT HEADS INTEGRATED.  DO NOT DO THE PAPER TOWEL METHOD ON THESE.  THESE ARE DYE BASED INK.

These are compatible cartridges and may differ greatly in appearance to the OEM versions.  This will not affect the function.

 

Not Recognizing

 

Verify you have the correct cartridges for your specific model printer.

 

There is sometimes an orange clip that must be removed prior to installation.  This can be a little confusing, as the bottoms of the cartridges are also orange.  If there is no silver tape on the bottom this means there’s a clip to remove.  If the clip is not removed the cartridge will not fit.  Be careful not to squeeze the sides of the cartridge while removing the orange clip.

 

Verify you are installing the correct color cartridge into the correct color slot.

 

To remove and install the cartridges into a Xerox M930/M940 printer do the following;

–          Pull the two side latches forward and raise the cover.  The ink tanks will move to the center.

 

–          Remove the color ink cartridge that needs replacing by pushing the tab forward and easing the cartridge out.  Make note of the locations of the different colors.

–          Make sure you have the correct color cartridge for the cartridge being replaced.  Insert the base of the ink cartridge, heel first, into the correct color slot.  Do not force the ink cartridge into the print head.

 

–          Push the ink cartridge down until it clicks into place.

 

–          Close the cover by lifting up to release the support arms and push down until it is completely closed.  The control panel on the printer will now lead you through purging the new cartridge.

 

Print Quality Issues

 

There is a pull tape seal on the bottom of the cartridge which must be removed.  This opens the ink nozzle.

 

For any print quality related issue a print head cleaning should be performed.  On the Xerox M930/M940 printers there are four different cleanings that can be performed;

–          Clean Print Head 1:  Use for basic head cleaning.

–          Clean Print Head 2:  Use if the printer has not been used for a week or less.

–          Clean Print Head 3:  Use if the printer has been used for up to a month.

–          Clean Print Head 4:  Use if the printer has not been used for over a month.

 

To access and run these print head cleanings on the Xerox M930/M940 printers do the following;

–          Press the Menu/Exit button.

–          Press the down Navigator button until “Maintenance” displays.  Press the Select button.

–          Press the right Navigator button until the level of cleaning you want to do displays.

–          Press Select to begin the cleaning.

 

If the cleaning you select does not resolve the issue re-do the cleaning but select the next level cleaning.  Cleaning should be done sparingly as it does consume ink.

 

If multiple cleanings do not resolve the issue then the print head will need replacing.  The print heads are replaceable, maintenance items and will need replacing after a certain period of usage.

 

Not Fitting

 

Verify you have the correct cartridge for your specific printer model.  Be sure that the orange protective clip has been removed.  Verify the cartridge is being installed into the correct color slot in the print head.  Check the cartridge itself for physical damage.
