THESE ARE INK TANKS; DO NOT PERFORM THE PAPER TOWEL METHOD. THE PRINTHEADS ARE SEPARATE, REPLACEABLE, MAINTENANCE ITEMS.
These are compatible cartridges so there will be some differences from the OEM, these differences will not affect the function.
There are 5 colors in this series; Black, Cyan, Magenta, Yellow, and Matte Black.
Not Recognizing
Verify they have the correct cartridges for their specific printer model.
There’s a smart chip located on the bottom of the cartridge in a little notch area. Check the chip for damage or debris. A Q-tip can be used to reach inside the notch and clean the gold contacts.
Verify that the cartridge is fully inserted into the printer. To remove and install the cartridges into a Canon iPF600 printer do the following;
– Open the ink tank cover and check the ink lamp. The ink lamp flashes for the color cartridge needing replacing.
– Press the tip of the ink tank lock lever of the color for replacement and lift the ink tank lock lever to open it.
– Hold the color ink tank needing replacing and remove it. Note the locations of the different color tanks.
– Make sure you have the correct color tank for the color being replaced. Insert the new tank into the holder with the nozzles facing down.
– Close the ink tank lock lever until it clicks.
– Make sure the ink lamp is lit in solid red.
– Close the ink tank cover.
Print Quality Issues
There’s a yellow piece of tape on the top of the cartridge which must be removed prior to installation. This opens a vent hole to allow the ink to flow out of the cartridge properly.
Using a paper towel to cover the ink nozzle holes, tilt the cartridge to left and right a few times.
A printhead cleaning should be performed any time there are print quality issues. To run a printhead cleaning on the Canon iPF600 do the following;
– Press the MENU button to display MAIN MENU.
– Press ◄ or ► to select HEAD CLEANING, and then press ▼.
– Press the ▲ or ▼ to select Head Cleaning B and then press the OK button. The printhead cleaning process will begin and take about 4 minutes to complete.
If the first cleaning doesn’t resolve the issue run a second cleaning. Printhead cleaning does consume ink so it should be done sparingly.
The printheads will need to be replaced after a certain period of usage as part of the regular maintenance of the printer.
Not Fitting
Verify they have the correct cartridges for their specific printer model. Be sure the correct color is being installed into the correct color slot. Check inside the printer for any debris which may be obstructing the cartridge from going in properly. Check the cartridge itself for physical damage.
