THIS TONER CARTRIDGE DOES NOT HAVE INTEGRATED DRUM UNIT. THE DRUM IS A SEPARATE UNIT FROM THE TONER CARTRIDGE.
Not Recognizing
Verify they have the correct cartridge for their specific printer model.
There is a smart chip inside the cartridge that connects to the printer via an RJ45 connector (Ethernet) located on the front side of the cartridge. Check the RJ45 connector for damage or debris.
To remove and install the toner cartridge into a Xerox WorkCentre 4250 do the following;
– Open the cover on the right side of the printer. This will reveal the latch used to open the front cover. Open the front cover.
– Move the orange lock to the right. Gently lift up the orange handle slightly, then carefully remove the toner cartridge.
– Slide the new toner cartridge into the printer until the toner cartridge clicks into place.
– Move the orange lock to the left.
– Close the front cover and side cover.
– Press the Confirm button on the printer display.
Print Quality Issues
Gently shake the cartridge to re-distribute the toner powder inside.
There is a spring loaded toner shutter on the bottom side of the cartridge that gets pushed open when the cartridge is inserted into the printer. Check the shutter to make sure it is not stuck and can moved easily. Be careful with opening the shutter as toner leakage may occur.
There are Image Quality Test Patterns that can be printed to help determine print quality issues. There are 19 available test patterns to print from on the printer. To access these test patterns do the following;
– Got to Tools > Device Settings > Tests & Resets > Image Quality Test Patterns
– Use the scroll buttons to select one of the test patterns
– Select the Feature button to either 1 sided or 2 sided printing
– Select the Start Test button to begin the test
Look at the printed Image Quality Test pattern to try to determine what print quality issue is occuring.
Streaking, lines, ghost images, and repeating image defects are drum related issues. The drum unit is a separate, replaceable, maintenance item and after a certain amount of usage (usually 4-6 toner changes) it will need replacing.
Not Fitting
Verify they have the correct cartridge for their specific printer model. Check inside the printer for any debris or obstructions which may be causing the toner cartridge not to slide in properly. Check the cartridge itself for any physical damage.
