THESE TONER CARTRIDGES DO NOT HAVE THE OPC DRUM INTEGRATED INTO THE CARTRIDGE ITSELF.  THERE IS A SEPARATE, REPLACEABLE, DRUM UNIT FOR EACH COLOR.

There are four individual color cartridges used in this printer; Black, Cyan, Magenta, and Yellow.

These are compatible cartridges so there will be some differences from the OEM.  These differences will not affect the function.

Not Recognizing

Verify they have the correct cartridges for their specific printer model.

This cartridge uses a RF or radio frequency sensor chip that’s located on the inside end of the cartridge. This chip does not make physical contact with the printer but rather sits in a specific position to be picked up by the printer’s sensor. Make sure that the cartridge is properly inserted and locks into place to ensure the chip is in the correct position. If the problem persists it is most likely an issue with the chip on the cartridge.

To remove and install the toner cartridges in a Xerox Phaser 7760 do the following;

–          Open the front door.  Make note the locations of the different colors.

–          Twist the lock knob on the color being replaced to the left to unlock the toner cartridge.

–          Pull the toner cartridge out of the printer, making sure to support the bottom of the cartridge.

–          Make sure you have the correct color cartridge for the cartridge being replaced.  Insert the cartridge into the correct color slot making sure the cartridge is in the unlocked position.

–          Turn the lock knob to the right to lock the cartridge into place.  Locking the cartridge opens the toner shutter and allows the toner powder to feed into the drum reservoir.

–          Close the front cover.

Print Quality Issues

There’s a black piece of tape which must be removed from the toner shutter on the cartridge prior to installation.

Shake the cartridge from side to side several times to loosen the toner powder inside.  Sometimes the toner can become compacted inside the cartridge.

If there are white lines on the printed pages the laser windows may be dirty.  To clean the laser windows do the following;

–          Open the front door.

–          Open the waste cartridge door.

–          Remove the waste cartridge.

–          Remove the laser cleaning wand from the front door.

–          Insert the laser cleaning wand into the slot, there is a slot for each drum unit labeled 1 through 4.

–          Push the wand all the way into the printer until you hear a click or the arrow on the wand aligns with the front of the printer.  Pull the wand out and push back in several times.

–          Remove the wand and place the laser cleaning wand back inside the front door.

If there are smears appearing on the printed pages then the printer may need to be cleaned.  There is a cleaning page that can be printed to help clear smearing issues.  To print this page do the following;

–          On the control panel, select TROUBLESHOOTING, select PRINT QUALITY PROBLEMS, and then select REMOVE PRINT SMEARS.

–          Several cleaning pages will print.  It may be necessary to run the cleaning twice to fully remove the smears.

Lines, streaking, repeating image defects, and ghosting are drum related issues.  There is a separate, individual drum unit for each color and are replaceable, maintenance items.

Not Fitting

Verify they have the correct cartridges for their specific printer model.  Make sure the cartridge is in the unlocked position when inserting into the printer.  Make sure the correct color is being installed into the correct color slot.  Check inside the printer for any obstructions.  Check the cartridge itself for physical damage.
