Updated June 5th, 2014

There were some minor leaking issues with these.  Our supplier has made some changes to the cartridges that will hopefully clear up most of the leaking problems.  These updated cartridges are part of our current shipping inventory.

THIS IS A TONER THAT HAS THE OPC DRUM BUILT INTO THE CARTRIDGE ITSELF AND IS REPLACED AS ONE WHOLE UNIT.  THERE IS NO SEPARATE DRUM UNIT.

There are 4 colors in this series; Black, Cyan, Magenta, and Yellow.

These are remanufactured cartridges.

Not Recognizing

Verify they have the correct cartridge for their specific model printer.

There is a smart chip located on the front of the toner cartridge.  Check to make sure the gold contacts are not damaged or dirty.  You can use a Q-Tip or lint-free cloth to gently dry wipe the connections.

To remove and install these toner cartridges into an HP Color Laserjet 2600 printer do the following;

–          Open the front door.

–          Make note of the different locations of the colors.  Remove the color cartridge needing replacing by pulling it toward you using the blue handles on the cartridge.

–          Make sure you have the correct color cartridge for the cartridge being replaced.  Align the cartridge with the tracks inside the printer, and using the handles, insert the cartridge into the correct color slot until it is firmly seated.

–          Firmly close the front door.

Poor Print Quality

Try to determine if the problem is occurring with one color in particular or if the problem is occurring across the colors.  Check the printed pages and see if, for example, wherever there is blue on the page the problem occurs.

There’s a plastic pull seal tape on the side of the cartridge that must be fully removed before installing the cartridge.  It is very important that this pull tape is fully removed.  If the cartridge is printing blank pages or printed 2-3 pages and now prints blank then the pull tape hasn’t been removed or has broken off inside the cartridge while being removed.

There is a black protective piece of paper that wraps around the OPC drum which must be removed prior to installation.  Make sure this paper has been removed.

Grabbing the cartridge by its ends, gently rock the toner left to right a few times to distribute the toner powder inside the cartridge.

The OPC drum is located on the back of the toner cartridge.  You will need to lift a spring loaded plastic cover to view the OPC drum.  Be careful not to touch the OPC drum unit.  Visually check for any scratches or debris.  You can use a soft lint-free cloth to gently wipe the OPC drum.

If the printed pages have toner specks or smearing then the paper path in the printer may be dirty.  There’s a cleaning page that can be printed to help clean the paper path.  To print this cleaning page do the following;

–          Use the ◄ or ► buttons to select SERVICE, then press the check mark button.

–          Use the ◄ or ► buttons to select CLEANING MODE, and then press the check mark button.  A page feeds through the printer slowly.  Discard this page when the process is completed.

–          Load plain white paper when you are prompted.

–          Press the check mark button again to confirm and begin the cleaning process.

If the toner is not adhering to the page and flakes off, especially when printing on paper thicker than standard plain copy paper (IE label paper, bonded paper, etc), this can be caused by the fuser in the printer or more commonly, the incorrect paper setting on the printer.  When printing on any paper outside of standard plain paper, you will need to manually switch the paper setting through the control panel on the printer itself.  The paper setting is usually found through the menu option Settings and then Paper on the printer.  Go to Paper Type or Paper Setting and make sure the correct paper type is selected for the paper you are printing to.  Changing the paper setting ensures the fuser gets hot enough to transfer the heat through the thick paper and properly melt the toner.  If you are printing to standard paper and are experiencing toner adhesion problems, this can still be resolved by selecting a thicker paper type setting on the printer.  It could be a case of too much moisture in the paper or toner which requires a hotter fuser or longer fuser contact time to properly melt the toner.

Not Fitting

Verify they have the correct cartridges for their specific printer model.  Make sure they are installing the correct color cartridge into the correct color slot.  Check inside the printer for any obstructions.  Check the cartridge itself for physical damage.
