INK TANK – These don’t have a print head attached so DO NOT do the paper towel method.  These cartridges are compatible cartridges and may appear to look different from the OEM.

These are universal cartridges that are used as Dell Series 21, 22, 23, and 24 cartridges.

The color cartridge is a tri-color cartridge containing Cyan, Magenta, and Yellow.

IMPORTANT:  For the OEM Dell Series 21, 22, 23, and 24, they are specific to certain printer models and come in varying yields.  The Series 21 cartridges are standard yield cartridges while the Series 22, 23, and 24 are all higher yield cartridges.  With our compatible cartridges the cartridges are all high yield regardless of the series and our compatibles are universal so they will work in all the different series.  This is a good value for someone ordering the Series 21 standard yield as they are getting the high yield version.

Not Recognizing

Verify they have the correct cartridges for their specific model printer.

This cartridge uses a RF or radio frequency sensor chip that’s located under the top label. This chip does not make physical contact with the printer but rather sits in a specific position to be picked up by the printer’s sensor. Make sure that the cartridge is properly inserted and locks into place to ensure the chip is in the correct position. If the problem persists it is most likely an issue with the chip on the cartridge.

IMPORTANT====> There is a carbon strip located on the RF chip on top of the cartridge.  If the cartridge is reading low or empty or is giving an recognition error, scrape away the middle portion of this carbon strip to break the connection.  This will change the chip and should resolve the ink level issue or recognition error.  Make sure to try scraping the carbon strip! <-====IMPORTANT

Make sure the cartridges are installed into the correct slots and that they are fully inserted into the printer.

To remove and install the cartridges into a Dell V313 printer do the following;

–          Open the top printer cover.

–          Press the release tab on the cartridge that needs replacing.  Black is in the left slot and the color cartridge is in the right slot.  Remove the cartridge from the printer.

–          Make sure you have the correct cartridge for the one you are replacing.  Insert the new cartridge into the appropriate slot, black on the LEFT and color on the RIGHT.  Push down on the cartridge until it clicks into place.

–          Close the top cover to the printer.

Print Quality Issues

There is an orange protective clip on the cartridge which must be snapped off before installation.

There is a yellow piece of tape which must be removed prior to installation.  This opens a vent hole which allows the ink to exit the cartridge properly.

These cartridges do not have the print heads built into the cartridge itself.  The print heads are separate.  For any print quality issue a print head cleaning should be performed.  To run the print head cleaning on a Dell V313 printer do the following;

NOTE:  For specific instructions on running a cleaning on a specific printer that also use these cartridges refer to the User’s Guide for that printer available on Dell’s website.

–          From the printer control panel press the button with the icon of a wrench.

–          Press the arrow buttons to scroll to MAINTENANCE, and then press OK.

–          Press the arrow buttons to scroll to CLEAN PRINTHEAD, and then press OK.

–          Press OK to clean the print nozzles.

If the first cleaning does not resolve the issue run a second cleaning but select DEEP CLEAN PRINTHEAD instead of the standard CLEAN PRINTHEAD.

Print head cleanings do consume ink to complete so they should be done sparingly.  If the deep clean still doesn’t resolve the issue run one more cleaning but allow the printer to sit for 10-15 minutes to allow the ink to soak on the head and loosen any dried ink.

Not Fitting

Verify they have the correct cartridges for their specific printer model.  Make sure they are installing the black cartridge into the correct slot and the color cartridge into the correct slot.  Verify that all seals and protective clips have been removed from the cartridge.  Check inside the printer for any obstructions.  Check the cartridge itself for physical damage.
