THIS IS A TONER THAT HAS THE OPC DRUM BUILT INTO THE CARTRIDGE ITSELF AND IS REPLACED AS ONE WHOLE UNIT. THERE IS NO SEPARATE DRUM UNIT.
Not Recognizing
Verify they have the correct cartridge for their specific printer model.
There is a smart chip located on the side of the cartridge. Check the chip for damage or debris. A clean, dry, lint-free cloth can be used to gently wipe the gold contacts.
Check to make sure the cartridge is installed correctly and fully inserted into the printer. There are tabs on each side of the print cartridge that align with slots on each side of the print cartridge cradle inside the printer. Slide the print cartridge into the printer until it snaps into place.
To remove and install the toner cartridge in a Lexmark E320 printer do the following;
– Use the finger tab to pull down the printer cover.
– Grasp the cartridge handle and pull the cartridge straight up.
– Holding the handle on the new cartridge, tilt the cartridge down and guide it between the print cartridge grooves.
– Push down on the cartridge until it is firmly in place.
– Close the printer cover.
Print Quality Issues
There is a red plastic protective piece and foam that must be removed prior to installation. There is also a piece of blue plastic covering the OPC drum on the bottom which must be removed. Be careful not to touch the OPC drum and be careful setting the cartridge down on a surface as the OPC drum can be easily nicked or damaged.
Try gently rocking the cartridge a few times to evenly re-distribute the toner powder inside the cartridge.
The OPC drum is located on the bottom of the cartridge. Be careful with placing the cartridge down on a surface as the OPC drum is easily nicked, dented, or damaged. Visually inspect the OPC drum for damage or debris. Do NOT touch the OPC drum. A soft, lint-free, dry, clean cloth can be used to gently clean the drum. Do NOT use moisture of any kind.
Compressed air can be used to clean inside the printer with the toner cartridge removed. Excess toner powder build up inside the printer can cause dots, excess loose toner on the page, or noises and blowing compressed in the printer can help clear out the excess toner dust. Do NOT use moisture of any kind.
To help isolate print quality problems, like streaking, there’s print quality test pages that can be printed via the printer. To print these pages do the following;
– Press and release the operator panel button twice quickly (double-button press) four times until the Ready/Data and Toner Low light come on and the bottom two lights blink.
– Press the operator panel button with a long button press (hold until all the lights come on) to initiate Print Quality Test Pages.
– Three pages print to help you evaluate print quality. The first page has registration marks, the second page is grey, and the third page is black. Use these pages to determine the print quality defect.
Not Fitting
Verify they have the correct cartridge for their specific printer model. Check to make sure all the seals have been removed from the cartridge. Check inside the printer to see if there’s any debris that may be causing the cartridge not to fit. Make sure the cartridge is being installed into the guides built into the inside of the printer.
