THIS TONER CARTRIDGE DOES NOT HAVE INTEGRATED DRUM UNIT.  THE DRUM IS A SEPARATE UNIT FROM THE TONER CARTRIDGE.

There are 4 colors in this series; Black, Cyan, Magenta, and Yellow.

These are compatible cartridges so there will be some differences between these cartridges and the OEM.  These differences will not affect the function.

Not Recognizing

Verify they have the correct cartridge for their specific printer model.

There is a smart chip located on the front of the toner cartridge.  Check the smart chip for damage or debris.  A clean, dry, lint-free, cloth can be used to gently clean the gold contacts.

These cartridges install into a color laser printer that uses a carousel setup.  For more information on carousel printers please see the CSR Blog link below;

Print Quality Issues

For any print quality issue you will want to try to determine if the problem is occurring with a specific color or if it is occurring across the board.  Check printed documents to see if the issue is only occurring where a specific color is.

There is an orange protective clip on the front of the cartridge which must be removed prior to installation.

These toner cartridges have a metal roller on the front which distributes the toner poweder to the separate OPC drum.  Check this metal roller for damage or debris.  Do NOT touch the metal roller.  Do NOT use moisture of any kind.

Holding both ends of the toner cartridge, shake it side to side a few times to distribute the toner evenly.

If lines are appearing across the entire page then the print head window may be dirty.  To clean this do the following;

–          Hold down the Rotate Toner key for 5 to 10 seconds.  Note:  It is not possible to exit the Print Head Cleanup mode once the process is started even if the Clear button is pressed.  The process will need to be fully completed.

–          Open the front cover.

–          The magenta toner cartridge has been moved to the position from where it can be replaced.  Pull down the handle on the toner cartridge until the toner cartridge is unlocked moves out slightly toward you.

–          Remove the toner cartridge.

–          Close the front cover.

–          After the toner cartridges have finished rotating and all indicators on the control panel begin blinking, open the top cover.

–          Grab the handle and lift it up slightly to the back, and then slowly pull the imaging cartridge vertically.

–          Make sure not to touch the OPC drum on the imaging cartridge.

–          Clean the print head window by wiping it with a soft, dry cloth.  Do NOT use moisture of any kind.

–          IMPORTANT:  Do NOT touch the transfer roller.  Decreased print quality may result if the surface of the transfer roller is touched.

–          Slowly insert the imaging cartridge vertically, and then push it slightly fown toward you to finish reinstalling the image cartridge.

–          Close the top cover.

–          Press the Clear button.  The blinking of all indicators stop, and the magenta toner indicator will light up.  The toner cartridges rotate within the printer.

–          After the toner cartridges have finished rotating, open the front cover.

–          Align the shaft on each end of the toner cartridge with its holders.

–          Insert the toner cartridge.

–          Press in the magenta toner cartridge until it locks into place.

–          Close the front cover.

Streaking, lines, ghost images, and repeating image defects are drum related issues.  The drum unit is a separate, replaceable, maintenance item.  After a certain period of usage (usually 4-6 toner changes) the drum unit will need to be replaced.

Leaking

This toner does not have any pull seal tabs and as a result a little toner dust on the cartridge is normal.  The yellow protective cover that covers the rubber roller helps collect loose toner powder.  However, vibrations during shipping may cause the roller to rotate a little and allow a little toner powder to leak.  This is normal.  You can clean excess toner dust off the cartridge by gently wiping the cartridge with a clean, dry, lint-free cloth or gently blowing on it.  Be careful with compressed air as this may blow too powerfully and blow toner powder out of the cartridge.  Do NOT use moisture of any kind and do NOT touch the rubber roller.

Not Fitting

Verify they have the correct cartridge for their specific printer model.  Verify the correct color is being installed into the correct slot in the printer.  Make sure the cartridge is being installed in the correct orientation.  Check inside the printer for any obstructions which may be causing the cartridge not to install correctly.  Check the cartridge itself for physical damage.
