THIS TONER CARTRIDGE DOES NOT HAVE INTEGRATED DRUM UNIT. THE DRUM IS A SEPARATE UNIT FROM THE TONER CARTRIDGE.
Not Recognizing
Verify they have the correct cartridge for their specific printer model.
This cartridge uses a RF or radio frequency sensor chip that’s located end of the cartridge. This chip does not make physical contact with the printer but rather sits in a specific position to be picked up by the printer’s sensor. Make sure that the cartridge is properly inserted and locks into place to ensure the chip is in the correct position. If the problem persists it is most likely an issue with the chip on the cartridge.
Make sure the cartridge is fully locked in the printer and that it is fully inserted.
To install the cartridge in a Xerox Workcentre 4150 do the following;
– Open the right side cover.
– Open the front cover.
– Turn the locking lever clockwise.
– Lift the latch to release the toner cartridge and remove the toner cartridge.
– To fit the new toner cartridge, align it into the grooves at the top of the cartridge slot.
– Slide the toner cartridge into the printer.
– Turn the locking lever counterclockwise.
– Close the front cover and right side door.
– Press the CONFIRM button on the printer screen.
NOTE: If you replaced the toner cartridge as a result of a “Replace the Toner Cartridge” message on the printer, the printer will assume you have fitted a new toner cartridge and reset the toner usage counters. If, however, you have installed a new toner cartridge without being instructed to do so by the printer, the toner usage counters will need to be reset manually. If they are not, the printer will prematurely tell you to replace the new toner cartridge before it should need to be done. To manually reset the usage counter do the following;
– On the printer go to Tools > More > Supplies Management > Toner Cartridge Reorder Notification.
– Select “Cancel Current Re-Order Message(s)”. This will reset the usage counter.
Print Quality Issues
Under the spring loaded toner shutter on the cartridge is a piece of tape which must be removed prior to installation. Slide back the toner shutter and peel this piece of tape off.
There is an Image Quality Test Pattern that can be printed through the printer to help diagnose print quality issues. To print this Image Quality Test Pattern do the following;
– Select the FEATURE button to test either 1 sided or 2 sided printing from the available trays.
– Go to Tools > Machine Tests > Image Quality Test Patterns
– Select the Start Test button to begin the test.
Look at the outputted pages to determine what print defect is occurring.
Ghosting, lines, streaking, and repeating defects will be a drum related issue. The drum unit is separate from the toner cartridge and is a replaceable, maintenance item. After a certain period of usage the drum will need replacing.
Try shaking the cartridge from left to right several times to loosen the toner inside. Sometimes, the toner can become compacted inside the cartridge.
Not Fitting
Verify they have the correct cartridge for their specific printer model. Check inside the printer for any obstructions which may be causing the cartridge not to fit. Check the cartridge itself for physical damage.
