INK TANK – These don’t have a print head attached so DO NOT do the paper towel method.

This is a compatible cartridge so there will be some differences between this and the OEM.  These differences will not affect the function.

This is sold as a two pack.

 

Not Recognizing

 

Verify they have the correct cartridge for their specific printer model.

 

There’s a smart chip located on the front of the cartridge on the inside of a tab.  Check the gold contacts for damage or debris.  A lint-free cloth or Q-tip can be used to gently wipe the gold contacts.

 

Make sure the cartridge is installed properly and pull inserted into the printer.

 

To install the cartridge into a Pitney Bowes DM22KR machine do the following;

–          Open the top cover.

–          Depress the blue latches on the cartridge and open the cartridge lid.  This will lift the cartridge to help with removal.

–          Pull the cartridge out.

–          Insert the new cartridge into the printer.  Make sure the cartridge is being installed in the correct orientation.

 

–          Close the print cartridge lid and make sure the blue latch snaps into place.

–          Wait 5 minutes before attempting to print.  This allows the ink to gravity feed into the ink reservoirs.  The ink reservoirs are two plastic tanks located under the ink cartridge that the cartridge feeds ink into.

 

Print Quality Issues

 

A print nozzle cleaning should be performed any time there are print quality issues.  To run the print nozzle cleaning do the following;

 

–          Press the MENU button.

 

–          Select MAINTENANCE.

 

–          Select CLEAN PRINTER NOZZLES.

The machine will go through the cleaning cycle.  Once finished check to see if the print quality issue has been resolved.  If the problem persists a second cleaning may be required.  Cleaning should be done sparingly as it does consume ink to complete.

 

The printhead is a maintenance item and is replaceable.  The print head will need replacing after a certain period of usage.

 

Not Fitting

 

Verify they have the correct cartridge for their specific printer model.  Be sure the tape has been removed from the outside of the cartridge.  Check inside the machine to make sure there are no obstructions which may be preventing the cartridge from installing.  Check the cartridge itself for physical damage.
