THIS IS A TONER THAT HAS THE IMAGING DRUM BUILT INTO THE CARTRIDGE ITSELF AND IS REPLACED AS ONE WHOLE UNIT.  THERE IS NO SEPARATE DRUM.

Not Recognizing

Verify the customer has the correct cartridge for their specific printer.

The cartridge comes with a new smart chip.  On the right side of the cartridge there will be three small silver contact nubs that make contact with the printer’s sensor when installed.  Check to make sure they are not damaged or missing.

Make sure the cartridge is installed correctly and is fully inserted into the printer.

To remove and install this cartridge into a Samsung ML-7300 Series printer do the following;

–          Open the top cover by pushing the button on the side of the printer.

–          Remove the toner cartridge from the printer.

–          Reinsert the toner cartridge into the printer.  Be sure that the toner cartridge is firmly in its place.

–          Firmly close the cover.

Print Quality Issues

There is a piece of paper held on by tape that protects the OPC drum which must be removed prior to installation.

Gently shake the toner cartridge from side to side 5-6 times to redistribute the toner.

The OPC drum is located on the bottom of the cartridge protected by a spring loaded plastic shutter.  Lift the shutter to view the OPC drum.  Visually inspect the OPC drum for damage or debris.  Do NOT touch the OPC drum.  A soft, dry, clean, lint-free cloth can be used to gently wipe the drum.  Do NOT use moisture of any kind.

If the toner is smearing off the paper or isn’t adhering properly, make sure the paper settings on the printer match the paper type being used.  Thicker paper, such as labels or bonded paper, require a different paper setting to allow more heating while printing to ensure the toner melts properly to the paper.  Trying to print on thicker paper while under that standard paper setting will cause the toner not to get enough heat to melt properly.

If lines or streaks are appearing on the printed pages then the LSU (Laser Scanning Unit) may be dirty.  To clean the LSU do the following;

–          Open the top cover and remove the toner cartridge.

–          Pull up on the LSU cleaner and put it on the LSU.

–          Slide the LSU cleaner horizontally across a track on the top of the LSU.

Leaking

This toner does not have any pull seal tabs and as a result a little toner dust on the cartridge is normal.  The protective paper cover that covers the OPC drum helps collect any loose toner dust.  However, vibrations during shipping may cause the roller to rotate a little and allow a little toner powder to leak.  This is normal.  You can clean excess toner dust off the cartridge by gently wiping the cartridge with a clean, dry, lint-free cloth or gently blowing on it.  Be careful with compressed air as this may blow too powerfully and blow toner powder out of the cartridge.  Do NOT use moisture of any kind.

Not Fitting

Verify they have the correct cartridge for their specific printer model.  Check inside the printer for any obstructions which may be causing the cartridge not to fit.  Check the cartridge itself for physical damage.
