INK TANK – These don’t have a print head attached so DO NOT do the paper towel method.

This is a compatible cartridge so there will be some differences between this and the OEM.  These differences will not affect the function.

Not Recognizing

Verify they have the correct cartridge for their specific printer model.

There’s no smart chip on this cartridge.  The machine is notified manually by the user through menu options during the cartridge replacement.  Make sure the cartridge replacement procedure was completed correctly.

–          Check the test print to be sure that all nozzles are printing.

Print Quality Issues

There is a piece of tape that needs to be removed from the cartridge prior to installation.

The meter performs automatic maintenance regularly to help keep the print nozzles clear however if lines are missing in the print this means there is some clogged nozzles on the printhead.  The printhead is separate from the cartridge.

A print nozzle cleaning should be performed any time there are print quality issues.  To run the print nozzle cleaning do the following;

–          Press SETUP.

–          Press YES at the USE PRINTER FUNCTIONS? prompt.

–          Press NO until the PERFORM MAINTENANCE? prompt appears.

–          Press YES.

–          Wait while the printer goes through the maintenance process.  This takes about one minute.

–          At the INSERT FORM FOR TEST prompt, insert any blank envelope or postage tape sheet.

–          Check the test print print to be sure that all nozzles are printing.

–          If the test print is correct, press CLEAR to return to the ready mode.

If the test print is still bad it may be necessary to run second cleaning.  The cleanings should be done sparingly as they do consume ink to complete.

Not Fitting

Verify they have the correct cartridge for their specific printer model.  Be sure the tape has been removed from the outside of the cartridge.  Check inside the machine to make sure there are no obstructions which may be preventing the cartridge from installing.  Check the cartridge itself for physical damage.
