THIS TONER CARTRIDGE DOES NOT HAVE INTEGRATED DRUM UNIT.  THE DRUM IS A SEPARATE UNIT FROM THE TONER CARTRIDGE.

This is a compatible cartridge so there will be differences from the OEM cartridge.  These differences will not affect the function of the cartridge.

Not Recognizing

Verify they have the correct cartridge for their specific printer model.

Make sure that the toner cartridge is fully locked into place in the printer and fully seated.

To remove and install this toner cartridge into an Okidata Okifax 5680 do the following;

–          Lift the document table into an upright position.

–          Push in the cover release buttons on the side of the copy stacker until you hear a click.  Lift the copy stacker.

–          Pull the colored lever on the old toner cartridge all the way toward you.  Carefully pull the old toner cartridge out of the drum unit.  IMPORTANT: Make sure you do NOT remove the drum unit with the old toner cartridge.

–          With the ridged side facing up and the colored lever on your right, insert the new toner cartridge into the drum unit.  Slide the left end of the cartridge in first, then lower the right end into place.  If the cartridge appears too small, then the drum unit was removed with the old cartridge.  Separate the drum unit from the old toner cartridge and re-use it with the new toner cartridge.

–          Once the toner cartridge is in place, push the colored lever all the way forward to secure it and release the toner.

–          IMPORTANT:  Use a lint-free, dry, soft cloth to gently wipe the LED array located under the copy stacker.  Failure to do so may result in poor print quality issues.

–          Close the copy stacker and push down until you hear the copy stacker click into place.  Be sure that the cover latches on both sides.  Close the document table.

Print Quality Issues

There is a white piece of plastic tape that covers the toner shutters on the cartridge which must be removed prior to installation.

Try rocking the cartridge back and forth a few times to redistribute the toner powder inside the cartridge.

Verify the cartridge is locked into the drum unit properly.  Moving the lock lever to the back of the printer opens the toner shutters on the bottom of the cartridge which drops the toner into the drum unit.

Ghosting, lines, streaking, and repeating defects will be a drum related issue.  The drum unit is separate from the toner cartridge and is a replaceable, maintenance item.  After a certain period of usage the drum will need replacing.

Not Fitting

Verify they have the correct cartridge for their specific printer model.  Verify they are installing the toner cartridge into the pre-existing drum unit.  If they are saying the cartridge is too small then they are not installing the toner into the drum unit.

Make sure that the cartridge is locked properly in the drum unit.  Verify that the white protective tape has been removed from the cartridge.
