THIS IS JUST A DRUM UNIT, THIS DOES NOT INCLUDE THE TONER. THE TONER CARTRIDGES ARE SEPARATE.
Not Recognizing
Verify they have the correct cartridges for their specific model printer.
There’s a smart chip located on the top of the cartridge. Check the chip for damage or debris. A Q-tip or a clean, dry, lint-free cloth can be used to gently clean the 2 gold contacts.
Make sure that the drum cartridge is installed correctly and is fully inserted into the printer. Verify they are installing it into the drum location and are not trying to install the drum into a toner cartridge slot.
To remove and install the drum into a HP Laserjet CP1025NW do the following;
– Open the print cartridge door.
– Open the front cover.
– Lift the two levers that hold the imaging drum.
– Remove the drum unit.
– Insert the new imaging drum unit into the printer.
– Lower the two levers that hold imaging drum.
– Close the front cover.
– Close the print cartridge door.
– After closing the print cartridge door, the Ready light and Attention light will flash. Allow up to 3 minutes for the printer to calibrate.
Print Quality Issues
There is an orange plastic cover that must be removed prior to installation.
If specks of toner are on the pages, the toner is smearing, or repeating marks occur then there may be excess dust or toner in the paper path. Print a cleaning page will help clear the paper path. To print the cleaning page do the following;
– Make sure there is paper loaded in the tray.
– In the Windows system tray on their computer, right-click the Device Settings icon and then click the printer name.
– Click the Device Settings button.
– Click the Print Cleaning Page button.
If the colors look off or do not seem to be overlaying properly then the printer should be calibrated. To calibrate the printer do the following;
– Make sure there is paper loaded in the tray.
– In the Windows system tray on their computer, right-click the Device Settings icon and then click the printer name.
– Click the Device Settings button.
– Click the Calibrate Now button.
The OPC drum is located on the front of the drum unit. Visually inspect the OPC drum for damage or debris. Do NOT touch the OPC drum. A soft, dry, lint-free, clean, cloth can be used to gently wipe the OPC drum. Do NOT use moisture of any kind.
Not Fitting
Make sure they have the correct drum unit for their specific printer model. Make sure they are installing it into the drum slot and not into one of the toner cartridge slots. Check inside the printer for any obstructions. Check the drum unit itself for physical damage. Make sure the orange plastic protective cover was removed.
