INK TANK – These do not have the print heads integrated.  Do NOT perform the paper towel method.

These are compatible cartridges so there will be design differences between these and the OEMs.  These differences will not affect the function of the cartridges.

There are four colors in this cartridge series; Black, Cyan, Magenta, and Yellow.  The black cartridge is physically thicker than the colors.

Not Recognizing

Verify they have the correct cartridges for their specific printer model.

These cartridges do not use smart chips.  Instead the printer has an optical sensor that views into a window on the cartridge to determine if a cartridge is present and its ink level.

Cover the nozzle hole with a paper towel and gently shake the cartridge.  Check the window on the cartridge that the printer looks into and make sure ink is present inside the window and that there are no air bubbles that may be giving a false reading.

Make sure that the cartridge fully inserted into the printer and that the correct color is being installed into the correct slot.

To remove and reinstall the cartridges in the AJ-6010 printer do the following;

–          Turn the front cover locking knob with one hand and lift the front cover with the other hand, while keeping the knob in the unlocked position.  The carriage will automatically move to the center position.

–          Open the maintenance cover.

–          While pressing the tab forward, remove the ink tank.  Make sure to make note of the locations of the different color cartridges.

–          Make sure you have the correct color cartridge for the color you are replacing.  Align the tab on the cartridge and install it into the printer.  Make sure it securely locks into place.

–          Close the maintenance cover.

–          Press both edges of the front cover with both of your hands until it locks.

–          Follow the message on the operation panel to complete the ink tank replacement.

Print Quality Issues

There is an orange plastic protective cover which must be removed from the bottom of the ink tank.

Try to determine which color is causing the issue.  Print a test page and see if the defect is occuring with a particular color or if its showing up across all the colors.

For print quality issues a print head cleaning should be performed.  Cleanings consume ink so they should be done sparingly.  If the first cleaning doesn’t resolve the issue, try running a second cleaning but allow the printer to sit for 10 minutes before attempting to print so the ink can soak onto the print head and loosen any dried ink that may be clogging the nozzles.

To perform a print head cleaning do the following;

–          In Windows, open the Properties for the printer.

–          Click the “Advanced” tab in the properties dialog box, and then click “Maintenance”.

–          Click the “Start” button of “Auto Head cleaning”.

–          Click the “OK” button to clean both the black print head and the color print head or just one or the other depending on where the print quality issue is occuring.  The print head cleaning will begin.

–          Click the “Start” button of “Test Print Head”, and then click the “OK” button on the confirmation dialog box to print a test page.

–          Check is the test page was printed cleaning.  If the problem persists, run a 2nd cleaning.

Not Fitting

Verify they have the correct cartridges for their specific printer model.  Check to make sure they are installing the correct color into the correct slot.  Check inside the printer for any obstructions.  Check the cartridge itself for physical damage.
