THIS IS A THERMAL FAX FILM CARTRIDGE WITH ROLL. IT USES A CARBON FILM SHEET AND HEAT TO TRANSFER THE TEXT TO THE PAPER. AS PRINTING OCCURS THE USED FILM SHEET WILL ROLL TO ONE SIDE OF THE CARTRIDGE.
Not Recognizing
There is no chip used in the film cartridge, there is a “leader” built into the film that will trip a sensor so the machine knows a new roll has been installed. If they are getting a “Check Film” error then the film was not installed correctly into the film cartridge. Follow the instructions below.
To install the cartridge into a Brother MFC-1770 do the following;
– Push the OPEN button to open the top cover.
– Remove the clear plastic stopper for the printing cartridge.
– Turn the black spool on the right clockwise to tighten the ribbon.
– Install the printing cartridge by inserting the indented ▲ first and placing the cartridge into its four holders.
– Press down on both sides of the cover to close it securely.
Print Quality Issues
There is a clear plastic stopper which must be removed from the cartridge.
If vertical black lines are appearing during printing then the scanner may be dirty. Open the top cover and clean the lens using a soft, dry, lint-free cloth.
Not Fitting
Verify they have the correct cartridge for their specific machine. Make sure the cartridge is being installed in the correct orientation. Make sure the clear plastic protective stopper was removed. Check inside the machine for any obstructions. Check the cartridge itself for physical damage.
