THIS IS A TONER THAT HAS THE OPC DRUM BUILT INTO THE CARTRIDGE ITSELF AND IS REPLACED AS ONE WHOLE UNIT. THERE IS NO SEPARATE DRUM UNIT.
Not Recognizing
Verify you have the correct cartridge for your specific printer model.
This cartridge uses a RF or radio frequency sensor chip that’s located on the left side of the cartridge. This chip does not make physical contact with the printer but rather sits in a specific position to be picked up by the printer’s sensor. Make sure that the cartridge is properly inserted and locks into place to ensure the chip is in the correct position. If the problem persists it is most likely an issue with the chip on the cartridge.
To remove and install this cartridge in an Okidata B6200 series printer do the following;
– Open the top cover.
– Hold the toner cartridge by the grip and pull it from the printer.
– Hold the new toner cartridge by the grip and insert it into the slot inside the printer.
– Close the top cover securely.
Print Quality Issues
There is a pull tape seal on the side of the cartridge which must be removed prior to installation. It is important that this seal is fully removed from the cartridge. If the cartridge is printing blank pages or printed 2-3 pages and now prints blank the pull tape seal has not been removed or has broken off inside the cartridge while being removed.
There is a piece of paper that protects the OPC drum which must be removed prior to installation.
Holding the cartridge firmly with both hands, gently rock the toner cartridge left and right, forward and backward, to distribute the toner evenly.
If the toner is smearing off the paper or isn’t adhering properly, make sure the paper settings on the printer match the paper type being used. Thicker paper, such as labels or bonded paper, require a different paper setting to allow more heating while printing to ensure the toner melts properly to the paper. Trying to print on thicker paper while under that standard paper setting will cause the toner not to get enough heat to melt properly.
The OPC drum is located on the bottom of the cartridge covered by a spring loaded plastic shutter. Lift the shutter up to view the drum. Do NOT touch the OPC drum. You can use a clean, dry, lint-free cloth to gently clean the drum. Do NOT use moisture of any kind.
Not Fitting
Verify you have the correct cartridge for your specific printer model. Make sure the pull tape seal was removed from the cartridge. Check inside the printer for any obstructions. Check the cartridge itself for physical damage.
