The TX300 toner cartridge and 310-9320 drum unit are two separate units that are sold individually. The drum unit generally needs replacing after 4-6 toner cartridge changes. When replacing the toner cartridge the old drum unit MUST be separated from the old toner cartridge and re-used with the new toner cartridge unless a new drum is being installed as well.
Not Recognizing
Verify you have the correct toner cartridge or drum unit for your specific printer model.
There is a smart chip located on the bottom of the toner cartridge. Check the gold contacts for damage or debris. A Q-tip or lint-free cloth can be used to gently clean the contacts.
The drum unit has a page counter that must be manually reset when the drum unit is replaced.
To replace the TX300 toner cartridge in the Dell 1125 printer do the following;
NOTE: The procedure for replacing the drum unit is the same as replacing the toner cartridge.
– Open the front cover of the printer.
– Remove the drum cartridge by pulling the green handle toward the front of the printer.
– Hold the drum unit in one hand and push the blue toner release lever to free the toner cartridge. IMPORTANT: Make sure to separate the drum unit from the old toner cartridge and re-use it with the new toner cartridge unless they are installing a new drum unit with the new toner cartridge.

Print Quality Issues
The toner cartridge and drum unit are two separate pieces that install into each other. When replacing the toner cartridge you MUST remove the old drum unit from the old toner cartridge and re-use it with the new toner cartridge. Install the new toner cartridge into the old drum unit before installing them into the printer. If the toner appears too small then you may be attempting to install the toner cartridge on its own without the drum unit. Make sure you install the toner into the drum first then install into the printer. See the video linked in the instructions before to see how to remove the toner from the drum.
There is a yellow plastic protective clip on the front of the toner cartridge which must be removed prior to installation.
Thoroughly shake the toner cartridge from side-to-side to distribute the toner.
Ghosting, streaking, and lines are generally a drum related issue. There is a drum cleaning feature on the printer which can be ran. To run the drum cleaning do the following;
– Press Scroll (< >) to select Setup and press Select (P).
– Press Scroll (< >) to select Maintenance and press Select (P).
– Press Scroll (< >) to select Clear Drum and press Select (P).
– When the message, Clear Drum? is displayed, press Scroll (< >) to select Yes and press Select (P).
– The LCD shows Cleaning Drum. During the process toner particles on the drum surface will affix to a cleaning page being printer to clean the drum. This process may need to be done 3-4 times to fully clean the drum.
Remove the toner cartridge from the drum unit to view the OPC drum. A soft, clean, dry, lint-free cloth can be used to gently clean the OPC drum. Do NOT use moisture of any kind.
The drum unit is a maintenance item and will need to be replaced after around 20k pages. If cleaning the drum does not resolve the print quality issues then the drum unit probably needs to be replaced.
Not Fitting
Be sure that the toner cartridge and drum unit are being installed as one unit. Verify you have the correct cartridge or drum for your specific printer model. Check inside the printer for any obstructions. Check the cartridge and drum unit for physical damage. Make sure that the toner cartridge is fully locked into place in the drum unit.
