THIS IS A TONER THAT HAS THE IMAGING DRUM BUILT INTO THE CARTRIDGE ITSELF AND IS REPLACED AS ONE WHOLE UNIT.  THERE IS NO SEPARATE DRUM.

Not Recognizing

Verify that you have the correct cartridge for your specific printer.

There is a smart chip located on the front of the cartridge.  Check the chip for damage or debris.  You can use a Q-tip to reach and clean the four gold contacts.

Make sure the cartridge is installed correctly and is fully inserted into the printer.

To remove and install this cartridge into a Samsung ML-3560 printer do the following;

–          Open the top cover.

–          Grasping the toner by the handle, remove it from the printer.

–          Locate the cartridge slots inside the printer, one on each side.

–          Grasp the handle and insert the new cartridge in the printer until it snaps into place.

–          Close the top cover.  Make sure that the cover is securely closed.

Print Quality Issues

There is a pull tape seal on the side of the cartridge which must be removed prior to installation.  It is important that this pull tape seal is fully removed from the cartridge.  If the cartridge is printing blank pages then the pull tape seal probably hasn’t been removed or has broken off inside the cartridge while being removed.

There is a red plastic protective clip on the back which must be removed prior to installation.

Holding the cartridge by its side, gently roll it from side to side a few times to distribute the toner evenly inside the cartridge.

If the prints are coming out smeared or streaking the LSU and PTL lens inside the printer may be dirty due to normal printing dirt build up.  To clean these do the following;

–          Open the top cover and remove the toner cartridge.

–          Wipe the long strip of glass (LSU) located inside the top of the cartridge compartment with a dry, soft, lint-free cloth.

–          Locate the PTL lens by flipping up the guide feed and gently wipe the lens.

–          Re-insert the toner cartridge and close the top cover.

A cleaning page can also be printed via the printer to clean the OPC drum as well as the fuser which will help resolve issues with faded, prints with specks, and blurred images.  To print these cleaning pages do the following;

–          Make sure plain white copy paper is loaded in the printer.

–          Press the Menu button on the control panel until you see “Setup” on the bottom line of the display.

–          Press the Enter button to access the menu.

–          Press the ◄ or ► button until “Maintenance” displays on the bottom line and press the Enter button.

–          Press the ◄ or ► button until the option “OPC Cleaning” displays on the bottom line.

–          Press the Enter button.

–          Discard the cleaning page that prints out.  Repeat the above steps except select the option “Fuser Cleaning” the second time to clean the fuser unit.

If the toner is smearing off the paper or isn’t adhering properly, make sure the paper settings on the printer match the paper type being used.  Thicker paper, such as labels or bonded paper, require a different paper setting to allow more heating while printing to ensure the toner melts properly to the paper.  Trying to print on thicker paper while under that standard paper setting will cause the toner not to get enough heat to melt properly.

The OPC drum is located on the bottom of the cartridge protected by a spring loaded plastic shutter.  Lift the shutter to view the OPC drum.  Do NOT touch the drum.  Visually inspect the OPC drum for damage or debris.  A soft, clean, dry, lint-free cloth can be used to gently wipe the OPC drum if needed.  Do NOT use moisture of any kind.

Not Fitting

Verify you have the correct cartridge for your specific printer model.  Verify that all the protective clips and seals have been removed from the cartridge.  Check inside the printer for any obstructions.  Check the cartridge itself for physical damage.
