There is no smart chip on this toner cartridge. The printer senses the toner powder inside the drum reservoir. Try shaking the cartridge to loosen and distribute the toner powder inside the cartridge.
To remove and install this toner cartridge into a Kyocera Mita FS-1000 printer do the following;
– Open the printer’s top cover.
– Pull lock lever #1 to the release (UNLOCK) position, then pull lock lever #2 to the release (right) position.
– Gently remove the old toner cartridge.
– Install the new toner cartridge in the printer. Push firmly on the top of the cartridge until you hear it click into place.

Kyocera Mita requires that cleaning must be performed when replacing the toner cartridge. Failure to complete the cleaning steps can result in print quality issues. To perform the cleaning on the FS-1000 printer do the following;
– Open the printer’s top and front covers.
– Lift the drum unit together with the toner cartridge out of the printer.
– Use a soft, dry, clean, lint-free cloth to clean dust and dirt away from the registration roller (metal). Do NOT use moisture of any kind.
– Slide the charger cleaner knob (green-colored) back and forth 2 to 3 times, then return it to its CLEANER HOME POSITION ▼.
– After cleaning is done, put the drum unit back in the printer. To do so, carefully align the guides at both ends of the drum unit with the slots in the printer.
– Close the front cover.
– Close the top cover by pressing down on the front left and right corners of the top cover.
Print Quality Issues
Make sure the above cleaning steps were completed when the new toner cartridge was installed.
There’s an orange paper cover on the toner cartridge which must be replace prior to installation.
Gently shake and roll the toner cartridge a few times to loosen and redistribute the toner powder inside the cartridge.
Not Fitting
Verify you have the correct cartridge for your specific printer model. Check to make sure the cartridge is being installed in the correct orientation. Check the inside of the printer for any obstructions that may be causing the cartridge not to fit properly. Check the cartridge itself for physical damage. If the cartridge appears too small, make sure you did not remove the drum unit with your old toner cartridge. If so, you will need to separate the drum unit from the old toner cartridge and re-use it with the new toner cartridge.
