THIS TONER CARTRIDGE DOES NOT HAVE INTEGRATED DRUM UNIT.  THE DRUM IS A SEPARATE UNIT FROM THE TONER CARTRIDGE.

This is a compatible cartridge so there will be some differences from the OEM.  These differences will not affect the function.

Not Recognizing

Verify you have the correct cartridge for your specific printer model.

There is no smart chip on this cartridge.  Try shaking the toner cartridge to make sure the toner powder is evenly distributed and be sure the cartridge is properly installed.

To remove and install this cartridge into a Kyocera Mita FS-1016MFP printer do the following;

–          Open the Scan Unit

–          Open the front cover.

–          Turn lock lever A to the unlock position, push lock lever B to the right and pull out the toner cartridge.

–          Install the new toner cartridge in the printer.  Push firmly on the top of the cartridge until you hear a click.

–          Turn lock lever A to the lock position.

–          Close the front cover.

–          Close the scan unit pushing the lever.

Kyocera Mita requires that the printer be cleaned every time the toner cartridge is changed.  Failure to do the cleaning steps may result in print quality issues.  To clean the printer do the following;

–          Open the scan unit.

–          Open the front cover.

–          Lift the developer unit together with the toner cartridge out of the printer.

–          Using the green handles lift the drum unit out of the machine.

–          Use a clean, lint freecloth to clean dust and dirt away from the metal registration roller (1).  Do not touch the transfer roller during cleaning (black (2)).

–          On the drum unit, slide the charger cleaner (green) back and forth 2 or 3 times to clean the charger wire, then return it to its original position.

–          When cleaning is complete, return the drum unit to its postion, aligning the guides at both ends with the slots in the machine.

–          Insert the developer unit together with the toner cartridge, back into the printer.

–          Close the front cover.

–          Close the scan unit pushing the lever.

Print Quality Issues

It is important that the cleaning steps outlined above were performed.  If these steps were skipped then the print quality issues mostly likely stem from dirty components that were not cleaned.

There is a piece of tape which must be removed from the bottom of the cartridge.

Shake the toner cartridge horizontally to distribute the toner evenly.

Ghosting, lines, streaking, and repeating image defects are drum related issues.  The drum unit is a separate, replaceable, maintenance item.  The drum unit will need replacing after a certain period of usage.

Not Fitting

Verify you have the correct cartridge for your specific printer model.  Make sure the cartridge is being installed in the correct orientation.  Check the inside of the printer for any obstructions that may be causing the toner not to insert properly.  Check the toner cartridge for physical damage.
