THIS IS A TONER THAT HAS THE IMAGING DRUM BUILT INTO THE CARTRIDGE ITSELF AND IS REPLACED AS ONE WHOLE UNIT.  THERE IS NO SEPARATE DRUM.

Not Recognizing

Verify that you have the correct cartridge for your specific printer.

There is no smart chip on this cartridge.  Instead, Samsung recommends replacing the toner cartridge when the prints get lighter and shaking the cartridge has no affect.

Make sure the cartridge is installed correctly and fully inserted into the printer.

To remove and install this cartridge into a Samsung SF-6800 do the following;

–          Push the cover release button and open the front cover.

–          Grasp the old toner cartridge and pull it from the printer.

–          Find the cartridge slots inside the printer, one on each side.

–          Grasp the handle of the new cartridge and slide the cartridge down between the cartridge slots, until it drops into place.

–          Close the cover.  Make sure that the cover is securely closed.

Print Quality Issues

There is a piece of paper held on by tape that must be removed prior to installation.

There is a pull tape seal on the side of the cartridge which must be removed prior to installation.  It is important that this pull tape is fully removed from the cartridge.  If the cartridge is printing blank pages or if it printed 2-3 pages and now is printing blank then the pull tape seal has not be removed or has broken off inside the cartridge while being removed.

Gently shake the cartridge from side to side 5 or 6 times to distribute the toner evenly inside the cartridge.

If the toner is smearing off the paper or isn’t adhering properly, make sure the paper settings on the printer match the paper type being used.  Thicker paper, such as labels or bonded paper, require a different paper setting to allow more heating while printing to ensure the toner melts properly to the paper.  Trying to print on thicker paper while under that standard paper setting will cause the toner not to get enough heat to melt properly.

The OPC drum is located on the bottom front of the cartridge protected by a spring loaded plastic shutter.  Lift up the shutter to visually inspect the OPC drum.  Do NOT touch the OPC drum.  A soft, clean, dry, lint-free cloth can be used to gently clean the drum.  Do NOT use moisture of any kind.

Not Fitting

Verify you have the correct cartridge for your specific printer model.  Make sure the pull tape seal and piece of paper have been removed off the cartridge.  Check inside the printer for any obstructions which may be causing the cartridge not to fit.  Check the cartridge itself for physical damage.
