INK TANK – These don’t have a print head attached so DO NOT do the paper towel method.
This is a compatible cartridge so there will be some differences between this and the OEM. These differences will not affect the function.
Not Recognizing
Verify you have the correct cartridge for your specific printer model.
There is a smart chip located on the bottom inside of the cartridge. Check the smart chip for damage or debris. A Q-tip can be used to reach and gently clean the gold contacts.
To remove and install this cartridge into a Pitney Bowes DM100i do the following;
– Open the top cover.
– Select “Replace Ink Tank” to continue. The message “Moving Ink Tank to Replacement Position” displays.
– Flip open the ink cartridge guard.
– Lift up and remove the ink tank.
– Lower the new ink cartridge into the cavity. The ridges on either side of the cartridge will slide into the grooves.
– Rotate the guard back to the closed position.
– Close the cover. The printer will prime the new cartridge.
Print Quality Issues
There is a piece of tape that needs to be removed from the cartridge prior to installation.
A print nozzle cleaning should be performed any time there are print quality issues. To run the print nozzle cleaning do the following;
– Press Options
– Press Page Down twice.
– Select Advanced Features
– Select Maintenance Modes
– Select Printer Maintenance
– Select Purge
– To start, you will want to select Purge A
– The printer will execute a purge. Press Clear 5 times to return to the Home screen. Try doing a test print. If the print quality issues are still bad try re-doing the steps above but move to the next purge stage. So, do Purge B or if that’s already been done move on to Purge C.
The printhead is a separate replaceable maintenance item. Over a certain period of usage it will need to be replaced.
Not Fitting
Verify you have the correct cartridge for your specific printer model. Be sure the tape has been removed from the outside of the cartridge. Check inside the machine to make sure there are no obstructions which may be preventing the cartridge from installing. Check the cartridge itself for physical damage.
