THIS TONER CARTRIDGE DOES NOT HAVE INTEGRATED DRUM UNIT.  THE DRUM IS A SEPARATE UNIT FROM THE TONER CARTRIDGE.  THE EXISTING DRUM UNIT WILL NEED TO BE RE-USED WITH THE NEW TONER.  MAKE SURE THE DRUM UNIT HAS NOT BEEN REMOVED WITH THE OLD TONER CARTRIDGE.

This is a compatible cartridge so there will be differences from the OEM cartridge.  These differences will not affect the function of the cartridge.

This is the higher capacity version of the 52109001 (Type 5) cartridges; however this cartridge will only work in the Okipage 14 series printers.  It is important to verify you have the correct cartridge for your specific printer model.

Not Recognizing

Verify you have the correct cartridge for your specific printer model.

There is no smart chip on this cartridge.  The printer senses the presence of toner powder in the drum reservoir and will notify to replace the toner when the toner powder level inside the drum reservoir hits a certain level.

To remove and install this cartridge into an Okipage 14 series printer do the following;

–          Open the printer cover.

–          Grasp the lock lever and pull towards the front of the printer to unlock the cartridge.  Carefully lift out the toner cartridge.

–          Do NOT remove the drum unit along with the toner cartridge.  If the customer is saying the new toner is too small then they pulled out the toner cartridge with drum unit attached as in the picture below.  They will need to remove the drum unit from their old toner cartridge and re-use it with the new toner cartridge.

–          Insert the new toner cartridge left side first.  Push firmly on the cartridge to make sure it seats down properly.  Grasp the lock lever and push it towards the back of the printer to lock the cartridge.  This will release the toner powder into the drum reservoir.

–          IMPORTANT:  The LED array must be cleaned when replacing the toner cartridge.  The LED array is found underneath the printer cover.  Wipe it gently with a soft, dry, lint-free cloth.  A small amount of rubbing alcohol may also be used if needed.  Failure to clean the LED array may result in print quality issues.

–          Close the top cover to the printer.

Print Quality Issues

Make sure the LED array was cleaned when the new toner cartridge was installed.

There’s a piece of white protective tape which must be removed from the cartridge prior to installation.

To help reduce blotches and shaded areas on the page there’s a cleaning page option on the printer which can be used.  To print the cleaning page do the following;

–          Open the status monitor by double clicking the printer icon in the taskbar on the bottom right corner of your computer screen.  Click the Printer Menu button under the Printer Setup tab.

–          Click the Test Print tab.  Click the Cleaning button and then follow the on-screen instructions.

Streaking, lines, ghost images, and repeating defects are drum related issues.  The drum unit is a replaceable maintenance item.  It will need to be replaced after a certain period of usage, usually 4-6 toner changes.
