THIS IS A TONER THAT HAS THE IMAGING DRUM BUILT INTO THE CARTRIDGE ITSELF AND IS REPLACED AS ONE WHOLE UNIT. THERE IS NO SEPARATE DRUM.
Not Recognizing
Verify that you have the correct cartridge for your specific printer model.
There is a smart chip located on the front of the cartridge. Check the chip for damage or debris. You can use a Q-tip to reach and clean the four gold contacts.
Make sure the cartridge is installed correctly and is fully inserted into the printer.
To remove and install the toner cartridge in the Xerox WorkCentre 3550 printer do the following;
– Release both latches on the side of the front door and open the door.
– Pull the toner cartridge out by lifting it up slightly and out.
– Tabs on the sides of the cartridge and corresponding grooves within the printer will guide the cartridge into the correct position until it locks into place completely.
– Close the front door. Make sure that the cover is securely closed.
Print Quality Issues
There is a piece of paper held on by tape that covers the outside of the cartridge and protects the OPC drum. This piece of paper must be removed prior to installation.
Holding both sides of the cartridge, thoroughly rock it from side to side to evenly distribute the toner.
If the toner is smearing off the paper or isn’t adhering properly, make sure the paper settings on the printer match the paper type being used. Thicker paper, such as labels or bonded paper, require a different paper setting to allow more heating while printing to ensure the toner melts properly to the paper. Trying to print on thicker paper while under that standard paper setting will cause the toner not to get enough heat to melt properly.
The OPC drum is located on the bottom of the cartridge. Do NOT touch the drum. Visually inspect the OPC drum for damage or debris. A soft, clean, dry, lint-free cloth can be used to gently clean the OPC drum. Care must be taken while handling the cartridge as there is no plastic shutter protecting the OPC drum on the bottom so it can easily be nicked or scratched when set on surfaces or handled.
Leaking
This toner does not have any pull seal tabs and as a result a little toner dust on the cartridge is normal. The protective paper cover that covers the OPC drum has a piece of foam that covers the drum to help collect any loose toner dust. However, vibrations during shipping may cause the roller to rotate a little and allow a little toner powder to leak. This is normal. You can clean excess toner dust off the cartridge by gently wiping the cartridge with a clean, dry, lint-free cloth or gently blowing on it. Be careful with compressed air as this may blow too powerfully and blow toner powder out of the cartridge. Do NOT use moisture of any kind.
Not Fitting
Verify you have the correct cartridge for their specific printer model. Check inside the printer for any obstructions which may be causing the cartridge not to fit. Check the cartridge itself for physical damage.
