THESE TONER CARTRIDGES DO NOT HAVE THE OPC DRUM INTEGRATED INTO THE CARTRIDGE ITSELF.  THERE IS A SEPARATE, REPLACEABLE, DRUM UNIT FOR EACH COLOR.  BE SURE TO SEPARATE THE OLD DRUM UNIT FROM THE OLD TONER CARTRIDGE TO RE-USE IT WITH THE NEW TONER CARTRIDGE.

These are compatible cartridges so there will be some differences from the OEM.  These differences will not affect the function.

Not Recognizing

Verify you have the correct cartridge for your specific printer model.

This cartridge uses a RF or radio frequency sensor chip that’s located under the description label of the cartridge. This chip does not make physical contact with the printer but rather sits in a specific position to be picked up by the printer’s sensor. Make sure that the cartridge is properly inserted and locks into place to ensure the chip is in the correct position. If the problem persists it is most likely an issue with the chip on the cartridge.

To remove and install the cartridges in an Okidata C6050 printer;

–          Press the cover release.  Open the printer’s top cover fully.

–          Note the locations of the four different color cartridges.  Be sure you are replacing the correct color.  Cyan (1), Magenta (2), Yellow (3), and Black (4).

–          Pull the colored toner release lever on the cartridge to be replaced towards the front of the printer.

–          Lift the right-hand end of the cartridge.  Then, pull the cartridge to the right to release the left-hand end.  Remove the toner cartridge.  NOTE:  Be sure that the drum unit is not being removed along with the toner cartridge.  The drum unit will need to be re-used with the new toner cartridge.

–          Hold the cartridge by its top center with the colored release lever to the right.  Insert the left end of the cartridge into the top of the image drum.  Push it firmly against the spring on the drum unit.

–          Lower the right end of the cartridge into the image drum unit.  Press it firmly down in place.  Then, push the colored lock lever back to open the toner slot and lock it in place.

–          The LED heads found underneath the top cover must be cleaned.  A cleaning cloth is provided with our compatible toner cartridges to do this.  Gently wipe the LED.

–          Close and latch the top cover.

Print Quality Issues

As mentioned above, make sure you have cleaned off the LED heads in the printer if you are getting faded images, white stripes, or blurred letters.

There is a tape seal that also must be removed the toner cartridge prior to installation.  Ensure that this tape was fully removed from the cartridge.

For light prints you can also try shaking the cartridge by holding it by its ends and gently rocking it side to side a few times to evenly distribute the toner powder inside the cartridge.

Almost all ghost imaging, streaking, lines, or repetitive image defects will be an issue with the drum unit.  There are individual drum units for each color that will need to be replaced over time, usually after 4-6 toner cartridge changes.

Not Fitting

Verify you have the correct cartridges for your specific printer.  If the cartridge appears too small then you probably have removed the drum unit with the old toner cartridge.  Check the old toner cartridge and make sure the drum unit is not still attached.  See the picture below of what it looks like with the drum unit still attached to the cartridge;

 If you pull the drum unit out along with the toner cartridge you must separate the drum unit from the old toner cartridge and reinsert the drum unit into the printer.  Then install the new toner cartridge into the drum unit while it is in the printer.
