Not Recognizing

Verify you have the correct cartridges for your specific model printer.

There’s a smart chip located on the front of the cartridge.  Check the chip for damage or debris.  A Q-tip or a clean, dry, lint-free cloth can be used to gently clean the 2 gold contacts.

To remove and install the toner cartridges into a Xerox Phaser 6280 printer do the following;

–          Press the release button on the right side and pull open the front printer cover.

–          Holding the cartridge by the two handles, pull it directly out of the printer.  Do this for each color that needs replacing.

–          Holding the new toner cartridge by the two handles, insert it into the appropriate slot using the rails built into the printer to guide the cartridge into the correct position.  Push the cartridge fully into the printer.  Be sure that you are installing the correct color cartridge into the correct color slot.

–          Close the front printer cover making sure it clicks firmly into place.

Print Quality Issues

There is a piece of paper with foam held on by tape which must be removed from the front of the cartridge before installation.

Try gently rolling the cartridge a few times to redistribute the toner powder inside the cartridge.

The OPC drum is located on the front of the cartridge.  Check the OPC drum for damage or debris.  A clean, soft, dry, lint-free cloth can be used to gently clean the OPC drum.  Do NOT use moisture of any kind.  Be careful not to touch the OPC drum with your hands or fingers.  The oil on your skin will damage the sensitive OPC drum.

Not Fitting

Verify you have the correct cartridge for your specific printer model.  Make sure the correct color is being installed into the correct color slot.  Check inside the printer for any obstructions or debris which may be stopping the cartridge from inserting properly.  Check the cartridge itself for physical damage.
