THIS TONER CARTRIDGE DOES NOT HAVE THE IMAGING DRUM INTEGRATED. THE DRUM UNIT IS A SEPARATE, REPLACEABLE, MAINTENANCE ITEM.
Not Recognizing
Verify you have the correct cartridge for your specific model of printer.
There is a smart chip located on the front right of the toner cartridge with small silver contacts. Check the connections for damage or debris. A clean, dry, lint-free cloth or Q-tip can be used to gently clean the contacts.
Verify that the cartridge is installed properly and fully inserted into the printer. To remove and install the cartridge in a Xerox WorkCentre 4118 printer do the following;
– Pull the release latch to open the side cover.
– Open the front cover.
– Turn the cartridge locking lever upwards to release the toner cartridge.
– Remove the toner cartridge from the printer.
– Slide the new toner cartridge until it locks in place. Turn the toner locking lever downwards until it locks in place. Close the front cover and the side cover. The display shows [New Toner?], select [Yes] and press [Enter].
Print Quality Issues
There is a black rubber roller on the front of the toner cartridge which distributes the toner powder to be picked up by the OPC drum. Check the rubber roller for any debris. Do NOT touch the roller and do NOT use any moisture of any kind.
Ghosting, lines, streaking, and repeating image defects will be an issue with the drum unit. The drum unit is a separate, replaceable, maintenance item that will need to be changed usually after 4-6 toner changes. We do not currently carry replacement drum units.
Try shaking the cartridge left to right 10 times to redistribute the toner powder inside the cartridge.
Not Fitting
Verify you have the correct cartridge for your specific printer model. Check inside the printer for any obstructions or debris which may be interfering with the cartridge fitting. Check the cartridge itself for physical damage.
