THIS IS A TONER THAT HAS THE OPC DRUM BUILT INTO THE CARTRIDGE ITSELF AND IS REPLACED AS ONE WHOLE UNIT. THERE IS NO SEPARATE DRUM UNIT.
Not Recognizing
Verify you have the correct cartridge for your specific printer model.
This toner cartridge does not use a smart chip. Verify the cartridge is installed correctly and is fully inserted. Panasonic recommends replacing the toner cartridge when the prints are light and shaking has no affect.
To install this toner into a Panasonic Panafax UF-990 and UF-890 do the following;
– Push the release button to open the printer cover.
– Align the arrow and the projection on both sides as shown and insert the toner cartridge into the printer.
– Close the printer cover firmly.
Print Quality Issues
There is a pull tape seal on the side of the cartridge which must be removed prior to installation. It is important that this pull tape seal is fully removed. If the cartridge is printing blank pages or printed 2-3 pages and now prints blank then the pull tape seal hasn’t been removed or has broken off inside the cartridge while being removed.
Rock the toner cartridge 5 or 6 times to redistribute the toner inside.
The OPC drum is located on the bottom of the cartridge protected by a spring loaded plastic shutter. Lift the shutter to visually inspect the OPC drum for damage or debris. Do NOT touch the drum. A soft, clean, dry, lint-free cloth can be used to gently clean the OPC drum if needed. Do NOT use moisture of any kind.
For minor print quality issues like spotting or excess toner on the page there’s a built in feature to clean the print rollers. To run this feature do the following;
– Press Function, 76, and then Set. This will bring up the cleaning charts screen.
– Press 1 to select Yes.
– The printer will print out 3 cleaning charts then return to standby.
– Load the cleaning charts into the cassette face up.
– Press Function, 76, and then press Set. This will bring up the cleaning charts screen.
– Press 2 to select the Clean option. The printer will feed out the charts and clean the printer roller.
Not Fitting
Verify you have the correct cartridge for your specific printer model. Make sure the cartridge is being installed in the correct direction. Check inside the printer for any obstructions that may be interfering with the installation of the toner cartridge. Check the toner cartridge itself for physical damage. Verify that the pull tape seal has been removed from the side of the cartridge.
