THIS TONER CARTRIDGE DOES NOT HAVE INTEGRATED DRUM UNIT.  THE DRUM IS A SEPARATE UNIT FROM THE TONER CARTRIDGE.

This is a compatible cartridge so there will be some differences from the OEM.  These differences will not affect the function.

This toner cartridge comes with a new waste toner box that must be replaced at the same time as the toner cartridge.  The toner cartridge also comes with a grid cleaner pad that must be used to clean the charger grid after the new toner is installed as well as a cleaner pad to clean the paper transfer unit.

Not Recognizing

Verify you have the correct cartridge for your specific printer model.

There is no smart chip on this cartridge.  The printer has a page counter that MUST be reset when a new toner cartridge is installed.  If the new toner is reading low, the counter was not reset when the cartridge was installed.

Make sure the cartridge is properly installed and fully inserted.  When the toner cartridge is installed into the printer a small shutter will be opened on the cartridge which dumps the toner powder into the printer.

To remove and install both the toner cartridge and the waste toner box in the Kyocera Mita FS-1900 do the following;

–          Open the printer top cover all the way.

–          Pull the green lock lever to the right and gently lift the old toner container.

–          Install the new toner container into the printer.

–          Push firmly on the top of the toner container.  When the toner container fits into place, it will lock with a clicking sound.

–          Close the top cover.

The toner counter MUST be reset after a new toner is installed.  If the counter is not reset then the new toner cartridge will read as low or read low prematurely.  To reset the toner counter do the following;

–          Press the MENU key.

–          Press the ▲ or ▼ key repeatedly until Life Counters > appears.

–          Press the ▲ or ▼ key repeatedly until >New Toner Installed appears.

–          Press the ENTER key.  A question mark appears.

–          Press the ENTER key.  The toner counter is reset.  The message display returns to ready.

To replace the included waste toner bin, do the following;

–          Open the left cover on the left side of the printer.

–          While holding the waste toner bin, press the lock lever and then gently remove the waste toner bin.

–          Open the cap of the new waste toner bin.

–          Insert the new waste toner bin as shown in the figure below.  The bin will be locked when it fits into place.

–          Ensure that it is correctly inserted and close the left cover.

NOTICE:  The following cleaning steps MUST be performed after a new toner cartridge is installed.  These steps are required.  If these steps are skipped then print quality issues may occur.

A grid cleaner is provided with our replacement cartridge.  It is in a foil packet and is moist when opened.  The grid must be cleaned while the cleaning pad is moist.

To clean the charger grid in the printer do the following;

–          Take the grid cleaner from its protective bag and remove the cap.

–          Attach the grid cleaner to the printer with the pad at the top.

–          Slowly pull out and then push back in the charger unit at least 5 times.  It is easier to pull out the charger unit for the first time if it is raised slightly.  The cleans the grid part underneath the charger unit.

–          Remove the grid cleaner from the printer and dispose of it.  The grid cleaner is not re-usable.

–          After cleaning the charger wire and grid, push the charger unit all the way in and close the left cover.

A cleaning pad is also included with our toner cartridge.  This pad will be used to clean the paper transfer unit.  It is important that this is done or print quality issues may occur.

To clean the paper transfer unit do the following;

–          While pulling the paper transfer unit green release lever pull out the paper transfer unit.

–          Wipe away the dust on the registration roller and the paper ramp using the provided cleaning pad.

–          Push back the paper transfer unit until it locks back into place.

Print Quality Issues

It is important that the cleaning steps outlined above were performed.  If these steps were skipped then print quality issues mostly likely stem from dirty components that were not cleaned.

There is an orange protective seal that must be removed from the toner cartridge.

With the label side down, thoroughly shake the toner cartridge 10 times or more.  This ensures that the toner is evenly distributed inside.

Ghosting, lines, streaking, and repeating image defects are drum related issues.  The drum unit is a separate, replaceable, maintenance item.  The drum unit will need replacing after a certain period of usage.

Not Fitting

Verify you have the correct cartridge for your specific printer model.  Make sure the cartridge is being installed in the correct orientation.  Check the inside of the printer for any obstructions that may be causing the toner not to insert properly.  Check the toner cartridge for physical damage.
