THIS IS A TONER THAT HAS THE OPC DRUM BUILT INTO THE CARTRIDGE ITSELF AND IS REPLACED AS ONE WHOLE UNIT. THERE IS NO SEPARATE DRUM UNIT.
Not Recognizing
Verify you have the correct cartridge for your specific printer model.
There is no smart chip on this cartridge, it is recommended to replace the cartridge when the prints are light and shaking has no effect.
Make sure the cartridge is fully inserted into the printer and that the front cover is fully closed.
To install the UG-3313 in a Panasonic UG-885/895 machine do the following;
– Press the release button to open the printer cover.
– Align the arrow and the projection on both sides as shown and insert the toner cartridge into the printer.
– Close the printer cover firmly making sure it fully closes.
Anytime a new toner cartridge is installed, Panasonic recommends that the printer roller be cleaned to ensure good quality prints. Failure to clean the printer roller at the time of a toner cartridge change may cause print quality issues later. To clean the printer roller do the following;
– Press Function, then 76, then press Set.
– Press 1 and the machine will print out 3 cleaning charts.
– Load the cleaning charts into the cassette face up.
– Press Function, then 76, and the press Set.
– Press 2. The printer will then feed out the charts and clean the printer roller.
Print Quality Issues
There is a pull tape seal on the side of the cartridge which must be removed prior to installation. It is important that this pull tape seal is fully removed. If the cartridge is printing blank pages or printed 2-3 pages then prints blank, the pull tape seal probably hasn’t been removed or has broken off inside the cartridge while being removed.
Make sure the print roller cleaning has been performed as outlined above under Not Recognizing.
Try rocking the toner cartridge back and forth 5 or 6 times to redistribute the toner powder inside the cartridge.
If the toner is smearing off the paper or isn’t adhering properly, make sure the paper settings on the printer match the paper type being used. Thicker paper, such as labels or bonded paper, require a different paper setting to allow more heating while printing to ensure the toner melts properly to the paper. Trying to print on thicker paper while under that standard paper setting will cause the toner not to get enough heat to melt properly.
The OPC drum is located on the bottom of the cartridge protecting by a spring loaded plastic shutter. Lift the plastic shutter to visually inspect the OPC drum for damage or debris. If needed, a soft, clean, dry, lint-free cloth can be used to gently wipe the OPC drum. Do NOT touch the OPC drum and do NOT use moisture of any kind.
Not Fitting
Verify you have the correct cartridge for your specific printer model. Make sure the pull tape seal has been removed from the side of the cartridge. If the tape is left in place it may cause the cartridge not to fit properly. Check inside the printer for any obstructions which may be causing the cartridge not to slide into place properly. Verify the cartridge has no physical damage.
