THESE CARTRIDGES DO NOT HAVE THE OPC DRUMS INTEGRATED.  THE DRUM UNIT IS A SEPARATE, REPLACEABLE, MAINTENANCE ITEM.

Not Recognizing

Verify you have the correct cartridges for your specific model printer.

There’s a smart chip located on the top of the cartridge.  Check the chip for damage or debris.  You can use a clean, dry, lint-free cloth to gently clean the three gold connection points.

Make sure the cartridge is installed correctly and fully locked into place.  There’s a carousel inside the printer which rotates the cartridges to the one that is selected on the control panel.

The cartridges install into locking points on either side of the printer.  Make sure to push down on the top of the cartridge to ensure it locks into place.

Print Quality Issues

Almost all ghosting, streaking, lines, and repetitive print quality issues will be an issue with the drum unit.  The drum unit is a maintenance item that will need to be changed usually after 4-6 toner changes.

The cartridges distribute toner powder to the drum unit using rubber rollers on the front of the cartridge.  Check the rubber rollers for cracks or damage.  Do not clean the rubber roller or use moisture of any kind.

Holding the cartridge by its ends gently rock it left to right a few times to ensure the toner powder is evenly distributed inside the cartridge.
